Hello friends. The Hetzer, LWS, and a Panzer II, are in the paint booth, so it’s time to start the construction phase of my next build. In keeping with the Tamiya theme, I’ve chosen to assemble and paint this King Tiger. This one comes with a radio control unit and motor assembly so it will have a few extra steps. I don’t know what livery I want yet, but I am kind of leaning towards the one with the guy on the horse. When I opened it, the first thing I noticed was the detail is a little more soft than the recent kits I’ve put together. The date stamp on the hull says 1993, so I guess it was good for its time.

Cool! You get to drive it around and attack stuff when you're done.

The electronics is in place and the zimmerit has been applied. The jury is still out on the zimmerit. It’s easy to apply, like any other water slide decal, but adhesion is questionable. I applied decal set to make sure it adheres to all the surfaces. Also, I feel the zimmerit is much too shallow. So now I’ll put this away for a few days whilst I finish the Hetzer and lay down the base coat of the Schlepper.

The zimmerit decals look to have raised detail to them like the HGW rivet sets. Does the texture feel like it will show through paint fairly well?

Zimm looks pretty good from here and I hope it will show more details with the paint on. Am looking forward to your video clip of it moving around your man cave when it is done!

Thank you brother! But now that you mentioned it, is posting a video the same process as posting a picture?

That would be awesome! There is a video insert button next to the image button if you can look at the full menu setting.
