Another show I went to years later. A radio station in San Diego (91X) used to put on these X-Fests with multiple bands - tickets up to $20.00 10 years later

I wouldn’t say that I love opera, but I do enjoy many works… my mom was a huge opera fan and passed on the appreciation to me… ballet and classical as well. But I’ll listen to many music genres between Amadeus and ZZ Top…

Never cared for Opra. I can listen to an appreciate the arrangements of classics when I hear them, but I don't know them by name or seek them out.

I got a weird one. I'm a huge metalhead, so it was really weird.

I saw MC Hammer in 92. I only went because a bunch of my friends and a girl I was interested in went.

Long story short, MC Hammer and his crew put on the best show I have ever seen. They danced for and hour straight, didn't stop for anything. It was extremely entertaining!

The news came out the next day that their equipment was stuck in another state, so they had to use the basic set up at the arena.

After that it was Anthrax in 99.

Those seem to be the best shows. That's how I ended up at the Manson concert. Chasing a skirt. Still the best, most entertaining, well produced show I have ever seen.

Gerry Seinfeld is here in Brisbane this week... I would have loved to see the show, but at $200 for nosebleed seats, just wasn't an option. And the venue is hopeless, you have to catch a train from the CBD for like a half hour ...

I know I've missed a lot too. I used to work a gig that did event EMS. Concerts, NFL, MLB, MLS, Indy Car, Rodeos, conventions, etc. I did get to see U2 when they had that massive stage that was the size of a skyscraper. I was 3ft from the stage the entire night. I got to see AC/DC, The Eagles (with the original lineup), and Fleetwood Mac (biggest disappointment ever).

Wow, you guys have been to some great shows!! Not nearly as many for me but I have been to some pretty great performances. Surprise favorite was Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser. Went with some friends, Houser opened for Johnson. When the encore happened both bands came back out. They SAID it was the last night of their tour and they were going to play until they got kicked out. I'm not sure if that was true but they had a full on battle of the bands with dueling guitars, fiddles, steel guitars. Coolest thing I've ever seen. They played their own songs, each others songs, covers, different genres. Just a brilliant show. I don't even remember how late it was when they finally packed up but they'd been playing for hours.

Kix Brooks brought out a stool and an acoustic guitar and serenaded us alone the rest of the night. He was funny and talented and my hat is off to him for finishing the show himself.

Trans Siberian Orchestra
Chris Cornell...This one also ranks near the top. He was truly incredible and his voice didn't miss a beat in person. Most impressive.

I'm sure there are others but they're slipping my mind right at the moment. I've been fortunate to go to more good shows than bad over the years.

Unfortunately, some acts seem to price themselves out of contention. I have seen a few tribute acts recently, Roy Orbison, Frankie Vali and the 4 Seasons, Beach Boys. The best recently was The Robertson Brothers with their 60's TV show. The guys sing really well and it was very funny as well which I wasn't expecting.

Thanks Joe. I'm sure there are some I've forgotten as all these were back in the late 70's early 80's. Black Sabbath was the first concert I went to back in 1976. Some friends and I skipped school to get the tickets.

Nope. Even though I experienced the van scene from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” I felt nothing except a splitting headache. My friends sure looked and acted stupid though.

Kiss Dynasty Tour, July 5, 1979, Hampton Coliseum, VA



I went with my buddy, P.T. Elliott. His mom drove us there around noon that day. By 5pm we had makeup on. I had Ace Frehley, he had Paul Stanley. At 7pm they opened the doors early. We rushed in and got front stage on the left hand side. When the concert started, they rose out of the stage like super heroes, at least to us! The first song was King of the Night time World...and within 30 seconds of the song, the heat from the flashpots had our makeup running. It was very hot and very loud.
My ears rang for two days afterwards. But it was a dream come true.

That Halloween, I borrowed my mom's Singer sewing machine, and made Ace's costume, complete with cape, while P.T.'s mom made him Gene's costume. We spent the night walking around Bethel Manor, an off base Air Force community.

I've seen many more concerts since then, and actually a few before that one, but that night was magic.

Having started concerts back in the mid 1960's and living in California, I've seen quite a few of the big names in rock.
For my taste in music, the best concert(s) I have ever seen have been good old The Grateful Dead (particularly the early 1970's Dead)

That would be me! I've NEVER done any kind of drugs, but I've worked enough concerts that you could easily get high from just standing there.

What kind of stupid question to ask a deaf person?!?!? Wait a minute I have been to few! Yes, I do love it but it has been a while. I loved the strong vibrations I felt at the concerts and watching the crazy fans were probably the best part. Being deaf, you have a huge advantage that you will be sitting in an assigned section not far from the stage so you are close enough to see the ASL interpreters.

So my favorite concert by a slide... Jimmy Buffet because my wife is a Parrot Head.
