Thanks guys. I been working on it for the past few nights and I made a little progress. I got all the parts cleaned up and primed. Everything should be ready for paint by the weekend.

Great progress. Taking notes! I'll be honest, I've never primed a motor before

Excellent. I have my notebook out as well. Lots of pretty small pieces there it looks like.

I’m a pretty cut rate model builder myself. I generally don’t prime small stuff like engines. Unless there’s a reason. Black bashing to add some depth or gloss black for some shiny metal. I paint over all sorts of bare plastic. I probably shouldn’t but there we are.

I think it's pretty cool that this little fella's got a V-8 in it. Starting off very well so far Mike.

Use to love watching the Midgets on TV as they always put on a great show. Really looking forward to following your build to the checkered flag.
Like Kyle, I don't prime small parts, engines, and the drive train. But the body and interior are always primed, with the exception of Metallic finishes. For those I start with a few mist coats of Tamiya Gloss Black, then a wet coat or two.

Thanks for the heads up on the priming guys. I been priming everything since I got back in the hobby 15 years ago. No more priming small parts that will save me some money.

One thing more on priming, if I do need to prime small parts, I go with either Tamiya or Mr. Color primer in cans, and it's lite, quick passes. Nothing heavy, and just a few like 3 passes, and that's it.

My go to primers are Tamiya and Mr. Color white, gray, & Black. I find that both Gray primers are just to dark, and many times the white is over white which I can't see the coverage, so my go to home made mix is 1 part White 1 part Gray, & 1 part Mr. Color Leveling 400 Thinner. It's the best lacquer by far.

I actually have 4 Iwata paint plastic jars with my primers pre-mixed and pre-thinned: Pure White, White/Gray, & Black. I do need to make one for Pink which would be White/and a few drops of Red for an outstanding Pinkish color.
One thing I do with all my paints and primers is a quick shake followed by a good mix the my old and trusty Badger battery powered paint mixer.

Got a little more progress done on it this weekend. I decided to go with black Tamiya and the gold and red decals from the kit. I also got the engine painted and together. I'm working on the chassis and clear coating the body tonight. More soon! Thanks for lookin'! Mike

Interestingly enough I just stumbled across almost this exact midget for sale on Facebook not far from my house. www.facebook.com/share/8iQ8VJm9uKP4Ny5b/?mibextid=79PoIi Here is the marketplace link if anyone wants some references or just to look at a beautiful midget. Out of my price range though. Beautiful work on yours Mike!! She’s looking really great.

Just a fantastic paint & decal job. The deep refection in the super smooth paint is certainly a mark of excellence.
The engine, rear, and tube frame all look as they would in real like. Can't wait to see your next update.
