Thanks guys! It still amazes me sometimes how one simple step can change a model so much. From McX-wing to something nice. I found black to be a bit too much for most of the panel lines, so I went back over about 60% of them with a medium grey oil paint. Probably can't see it in the pictures, but it toned down the black enough for me... I also added a bit of brown to some areas, getting ready for the next step of building up some grime.

Very nice weathering. Taking notes for mine although it's a completely different color.

Alright, here we go... I spent about 5 hours on this yesterday. There are some areas I don't like. Some areas I love! There are still a few little things I want to do, but I need to let the oils paints dry first. First step was a flat coat, mr color gx 114 super smooth clear falt. Then a lightly spray flat brown in areas I wanted to dirty up. Then an even lighter layer of flat black. Then I went to town with the oils. Black, raw umber, grey, white, orange. I used different techniques, washing, brushing, smudges, streaks. I may change a few things around just a little, some of the weathering is a lottle thick for my tastes. Whatever I do I need to sit on it for a couple of days. I'm not very happy with the streaks, I'm still learning my newish airbrush. I still have to paint Luke and R2. Edit2, I forgot, I also resprayed the red on the "L's" on the upper s foils. When I filled in some of the chips, the red I brushed on turned darker then the red I sprayed. It was driving me crazy. So I sanded them, remasked and sprayed to get them to blend in better. Much better now.

Very nice weathering. Taking notes for mine although it's a completely different color. That black base is so good for fading. I have Poe's t-70 built, I built it like 3 years ago and have just been sitting on it. I've been watching videos on how people paint SR-71's and B2's. There's so many ways to go with black. Alot of people say you shouldn't paint black, but it's not hard to make it look worn.

Exceptionally nice work on the weathering start. I’m loving how it’s looking so far.

I think you are giving the weathering great depth with all the layers you have added.
