I was very lucky in the Academy and Hannants both got the roundel diameters spot on, so the new ones covers the old ones perfectly.

Ok chaps so nearly there!

Up next is the wonder that is Flory washes.....slap it on and just wipe it off and your done.

In fact since these were taken, the exhaust stains and final clear coat has been applied.....I'm just waiting for it to dry!

I'm too late to the party to be of any help. But I don't trust Academy's decals at all. Far too many failures over the years - I replace them all with aftermarket options unless they're Cartograph printed (which some are). They're really quite terrible.

Spit looks great regardless. Good save, and the invasion stripes look fab!

Thanks guys for the support and you're right the Flory washes do work wonders for such a simple principle.


Dupes - warning re Academy decals duly noted (Cartograph excepted).  End putting to one side the problems I had with the fuselage ones to one side, the top wing ones went semi transparent when decal solution was applied and the underwing ones were out of alignment and register.

It's pretty unfortunate that they're so bad, because I have a lot of Academy kits! Finding replacements for some of them is going to prove challenging. I SO wish they would just use Cartograph for all of them.

What a tease!! Such a great looking build and I’m liking that wash that you used Andrew. I’ve not built any Academy models before so that’s an appreciated heads up about those.
I use MiG washes and have found that they are similar to the Flory washes IMO. Just apply it and wipe away the excess and WALAH….it’s all done.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the pictures Andrew

Thanks as always for the support Joe!  As you know I love Flory washes and thoroughly recommend them.  Not used MIG before, so will look them up.
