Thanks everyone for the compliments and well wishes!
More work done on the F-104. Lookin like this will likely be about as far as I get before the baby arrives. All additional parts are built and ready for paint, so once I get some free time; I’ll get those painted up and attached.
I still need to make some panels on the airframe a darker aluminum as well and paint an anti glare spot just in front of the canopy area.

Quick update - I got majority of the paintwork complete including some panels in different shades of aluminum. At first I made the differing panels too dark and had to remask it all to do it again. It was quite a pain to mask it all twice 🥲

Next to the Voodoo the CF-104 was the aircraft I fueled the most. Your paint looks bang on as there was not a huge variation in the panels tones on the NMF aircraft like you see on some others. Since they used a clear sealer and not the aluminum dope that some aircraft had the were extremely shiny even when dirty. The glare could actually hurt your eyes on a sunny day.

Over the past few days I was able to get all of the main decals on. Since they are Eduard, I will be able to remove the carrier film once it has set for 24 hours. Once the carrier film has been removed, I’ll then move onto doing all the stencils.
Oh man that looks cool. Tell me about that tail color...
Thank you!
The tail and lower side of the wings I did in Tamiya XF-14 (J.A. Grey).
Eduard recommended C73/H57 which I do not have. When looking online, it appears to be your standard grey with a very light hint of brown. The Tamiya paint I used def has much more brown in it than what it really should have, but I was too far in when I realized my mistake. I am now going to use this more dusty looking grey to help with weathering. Possibly going to use some grey oils and pigments to bring to towards the true color in the end.
I like the look actually. Gives a more interesting look to the lawn dart.
I’m glad you like it! In my modeling journey, most mistakes I’ve made somehow end up making a build better in the end haha. Guess until I do a modern fighter with much less weathering

OH do be careful with weathering on these. I LOVE me a well weathered aircraft but like I said above these things in NMF gleamed. It was weird since the German camoed ones I worked on were always sort of grimy but the Belgian and Canadian NMF were almost spotless and very shiny. I never had interaction with a U.S. one though so shouldn't really speak to them.

I plan on doing a light weathering on it. Prob do a black oil wash on the whole thing then wipe off. Afterwards do black/brown dry pigments and possibly grey as well.
What do you think of the JA Grey I used one the tail? Would you leave it or try to shift it more grey?

Hard to tell in the pics but it really should be more grey. A wash will rock.

Kk thanks.
I think a grey and black wash might be able to bring it towards the right color but not all the way there. Oh well, ya live and ya learn
Today I got all the stencils/decals done for the peripherals.
The main body has roughly 200 stencils, which I’ll be working to get done over the next few days. Really hoping to finish this build sometime in the next week or so.
