John, my understanding is the pilot climbed up steps in the fuselage behind the left wing, walked up the wing and into the cockpit from above,

Yeah, someday.  As usual I am half right and half wrong...at least I only used canopy glue to attach the stay.

That turned out really good! Paint is especially good. Inspiring enough to move mine up the short list of kits to build from my stack.
