I think some people feel pressured to weather as if there is now a pigment pusher on every street oh my i almost destroyed my screens with my coffee.. That is the effect I was after. ;D Thanks for that addition Rob. I would have thought, as you pointed out, in conflict alot of the time eating and sleeping would take priority over maintenance.

Well said T and Rob! You guys summed it up well. Great discussion and I feel I looked deeper into my modeling approach after having read it. That's a great thing for everybody:)

" "Where is Iain when you need him, I'm having some weathering DT"s" ROTFLMAO!! ;D Still chuckling and its been 20 minutes!! I like what Carlos mentioned about thinking about the build and taking into consideration the theater of operation, time frome not to mention the particular individuals using effect your models outcome in repects to the finish.

Thanks for the pics Ken, this is what I've been looking for. The last pics of the hatch are quite telling aren't they? And that is a good point about the spillage on the Sherman. I suppose it is the differnce between using a rain effect on the side or more grimy fuel look to it. Apparently either would be correct. I think the contemporary Sherman pic. would make a nice build for someone. Mmmmm juicy green moss!
I've got a few bucks in my pocket and I'm feeling shaky so I'm going to see if I can score a wash to hold me over. ;D

I have to say, with all the diverse and talented modellers on this forum,(Except me!),giving comment on this subject,I can see that there is absolutely no problem with 'Getting down, and getting dirty' with some subjects, which I have absolutely no problem with...and again with the 'chipping' side of the wearing process. BUT...in my travels to the various shows I have done with Dicky over the last coupla years,to my eyes,SOME builds have been 'chipped near to death',shall we say, just in the hope of pleasing a judges eye, with his 'skills',a la mode for the time.To me,as a total Numpty,if a build can convey what the modeller wanted,a title for that build, can be considered superfluous.(Although it does help ) As has been said before, this hobby is meant to be a pleasurable pastime for all of us,nearly an escape from 'life' for a few hours,so whatever 'Floats yer boat',SHOULD be sufficient for all of us Sorry for the ramble,...It's been a long day!! There IS no right and wrong....just a viewers perception of it!!!

Given I definitely agree with the "Half an hour from Nemo" sir above, my approach is to try to replicate a picture or some of them.
For instance, my still unfinished T-34 has damage and chipping taken from several pictures in the various books I watched.

"(Except me!)" he says!! LOL...I think not CB. You are one of the many drops of glue here holding the wings on this show!! I agree with you too!! ;D Nice pic BJ!!! Might be a fine example of those thinned out quick paint jobs near the end! WOW such perspective in this shot too!! LOL, look at the size of the dud compared to that behemoth!!!
