Went to this show this weekend. It is by far the best show i have ever been to. And is The largest in the world if you have never been. I will do a show photo report later when i download all the pics. The competition had a staggering 89 categories and thousands of entry,s. All of which were the highest of standard that i have seen, real eye candy and such variety.This thing made Euro look like a small local show.
The trade stands were out in force and if you couldnt get it at Telford then it probably dont exist. I went up with Ken Holland and this was the best weekend i have had at a model show event. great company,loads of models ,an Indian meal in the evening followed by a few bevy,s and then another full day of models. WOW, roll on next year, that was awsome. Have a look at the pics,400 plus of them.

What a weekend. Best show i have been to. Incredible size.Me and Ken Holland walked around from 9 in the morning untill 5 pm with one break for lunch and still didnt see all of it on the Saturday.Great to see loads of you up there,Chris M ,Martin &James,Carlos, Simon, Sean,Craig,Tim,Mark D, Gothic Geek and anyone who,s names i have missed out . Well if it wasnt up there to buy then it probably dont exist was the impresion i got from the trade stands.I met up with Marcus Nichols who welcomed me onboard with his magazine contributers so look out for me in those in the near future. Also had a chat with a mate of mine ,Spud John Murphy the editor of the new weathering magazine from AK. The show organisers have improved the set up from last time i went up,even more room with the comp and another restaurant and bar in the entrance part. The competition had a staggering 89 categories with thousands of models on show for the judges to prowl through. I did pick up some amazing awards as well with my dio,s . For those that are interested and thats probably not many as people dont like other people blowing their own trumps but i will list.

Masterclass winner Best Diorama in show for Blissfull ignorance.

I did feel completely honoured for such awards

The Best of the Masterclass winners went to the fantastic time machine that was scratch built

The best of Show juniors went to a fantastic diorama with the set of figures playing cards,they are the same set i used in Timeout diorama in last months issue of Military modelling.

I had to put Ken through an hour of awards in the comfrance room for all the Gold medal winners and trophy winners, poor sod.

With the standard of stuff on show i was on cloud nine with my takings,A great weekend.

Cheers Guys , i am still floating at the moment. What i like about this show is that in the competition there are no names on the entry cards and the models are judged on merit rather than who the artist is which is a lot fairer than some shows i could mention. I would say that 75% of the gold and trophy winners were foreigners though to the UK . Japan,Canada, Switzerland, Poland, French, and Even the Canary Islands were among winners,crazy.

Here are the pics of the table the masters best of the best, Including the juniors best of show and the fabulous Time machine that got the overall best of whole show which was completely scratch built.Amazing modelling , I dont think i would be amongst that lot without Dickies title for my dio. Just proves what a name plate can tell of the story, I heard people say why is it called Blissful ignorance?OH i get it. People loved it,thanks jackwagon.

Well done on the gongs mate. Very well deserved 'Lest We Forget' was stunning and the Leopard excellant.

I think I missed Blissful Ignorance there was so much to see and so little time.


Kudos to IPMS a great show. Just one nit-pick if they read this; if they insist on a bag check for the competion area could they please...

(a) move it from the competition room it was reaaaaaaaaly in the way when people were dropping off and collecting...especially the latter there must have been hundreds of freebie Airfix bags check in ;D ;D ;D

(b) make sure the bag check people have the tickets to do their job. No tickets = can't check = can't GET IN, right?

Well done to the people running the bag check they worked very hard under difficult circumstances but it could have been avoided. Because we had two bags and they had no tickets we had to share time going in which cost me/us loads of viewing time


Finally...of course these were two of my favourites; purely in the interest of art

Andy, congrats!!! One of my deaf friend modeler who lives in UK was at the show and he took several pictures of your 'Blissful Ignorance' build and posted on his Facebook telling us it was his favorite. It made me chuckle because I think I have seen it somewhere before...

Andy thanks for looking in,Glad your mate liked it as much as the judges. I think the title helped this one as it told the story to a T, I have to thank Dicky for that as without that title i dont think it would have done so well. I took all the pics(400) for the guys on here that couldnt get to the show, Bit disapointed with the response ,i thought there would have been a lot more that liked the pics to be honest.

Anyway i loved them and it was a pleasure to share, i tried to cater for all tastes. As i said before the only thing missin up there was you and Dickie, That would have made it a blinder of a weekend. i do hope you two are going to go to shows this year even if Dicki doesnt compete.

Thanks Dennis. Great show and i will definately go back next year. So much more to see than at Euro which is ok if you just like figures. there was only two traders selling armour this year and i found myself trying to find something to buy. in the end i bought two si-fi figures which i dont even want. telford on the other hand you had everything on offer and a humongous amount.
