It's been a while but I have finally resumed work on the Puppet Monster. Now that I'm getting used to working with a Green Stuff/MagicSculp mix I have more confidence to work on the large smooth areas such as the torso. The plan is to have him ready to cast in October!

Thanks guys! Glad you like the progress and pleased I'm still freaking you all out! Last nights progress: concertina neck sculpted using Procreate. This took approximately an hour and went better than I anticipated. I expected at least two sittings of hard graft so I'm pleased that I can now get on with other parts of the sculpt. I can't finish the cuffs (or sculpt the frills on the ankles) until I have removed the arms, but I can't do that until I have sculpted his collar! I can't sculpt his collar until I have finished the head (which needs to be sculpted with the arms still in place, to check composition...). I couldn't continue the head until I had sculpted the neck, so it looks like the ball is now well and truly rolling! The end is in sight! I can't wait to get round to trialing my new jewellery saw to butcher his arms!!

I'm tempted to add a ribbed texture to his forehead before I send him for casting (as in the illustration). What do you think?

Thanks guys! :-D
The ridges would be like in my avatar pic. It could work quite well to reflect the ribcage texture on his back. Just feel like the current ridge running down the middle of the face makes to adjacent areas look a bit empty and unbalanced?

Finished! I plan to send it for casting tomorrow. Note that gravity is all that is currently holding the parts together. Any gaps should be less prominent when parts are glued in place. Resin casts should be available by the end of the month. Feel free to get in touch for further information (PM or email "madclownminiatures at hotmail dot co dot uk").

Thanks Deano! For now these are sculpted purely for my own fun and learning. Casts tend to be bought by painters and resin collector fanatics alike, occasionally for gaming purposes. Although not a gamer myself I had toyed with the idea of developing some sort of game based around my creations. Who knows... time is not on my side, but maybe one day!

Thanks guys! Puppet Monster (& Crawler) casts arrived this morning and are looking great! If you'd like one of your own, feel free to send me a private message. Alternatively you can email me at: "madclownminiatures at hotmail dot co dot uk" (I'm just cursing myself for photographing the "first one out of the box"! As is the nature of resin casts their colour varies with the amount of pigment added to the mix. I just so happened to pick a nice pale one, which made photographing it a bit more... interesting!)
