Hello Lucas, Not sure what's going on but, I've got pics at this end on a couple of different platforms. Perhaps a moderator could shed some light on this issue. Dave

Hello Lucas, It's good that that decided to show up. Hello Bish, Thank you for the compliment and for having a gander. Hello Sergio, You are welcome and, thank you. Still more to come. Hello Joe, Thank you for the high praise. The fiddly bits that gave me fits was yesterday.....see below... The ribs were extended yesterday using more....you guessed it.. STYRENE! But only in very small amounts. By that I mean small, marginally irregular parts. The irregular end of things is what gave me fits. Yes, I chose this path. I figured that the ribs were going to look funny if they did not extend to the roof of the nacelle as they had before I cut out the step. The ramblings aside..... I added some cross pieces as well. The reference pics showed them plus, this part will be quite visible. The forward nacelle section, not so much. This was the best shot I could get with my trusty point and shoot digi cam. You can at least see the ribs extended up past the nacelle sides A dry fit with the nacelle in place. Dave

Nice progress Dave, you sure you don't have any tiny scaled-down aeronautical engineers working on your bench at night for these projects?

Hello Joe, Give it a whirl! It really isn't all that bad........hmmmm.....Uh, ok...I'll tell them. The voices say we're all mad here. Hello Bill, Nope! It's just me.....at least that's what the voices tell me. Hello Dogfish7, Oh hell yes, the gear is down on this one. Especially after the nose gear debacle. After that save, you can bet that they'll be down and locked. Dave

Hello Luigi, I did not mean to ignore you. Our posts just missed each other by minutes. Sadly, it is only a 1/48 model. Were it 1:1 I would have a much better paying job that would allow me to operate it. Dave

Hello Luigi, . Were I independently wealthy. if I ever do, I'll drop you a line. Hello DickyF, Thank you kindly. I'm finally doing scratch building that I've always had some trepidation about. Hello Bish, it's mostly photos from the Ginter book. There are a few schematics in it. As far as official schematics…I'd be like a kid in a candy store if I had those! No updates today. The boy is at the infusion clinic in Portland today, sooooooo…won't be home until much later. Dave

Hello Marc, Thank you very much. Hello Luigi, Thank you for the good wishes/words. We bounced back to the hospital on Friday and got home Saturday afternoon. He's doing well. The infusions just simply kick his ass. Back on the mend. Hello Bish, You are most welcome. Squadron has a book, unfortunately it is out of print. The copies I've seen on evilbay have been for obscene prices. I'm happy to do a bit more leg work for the needed info. I must warn you about adding the ribs. It's an illness. Especially if you find yourself looking at other parts and thinking "I could do better". There are not medications enough for it. Rather than start on the forward nacelles, I opted to get a start on the main gear. Here's where it gets a bit wonky. To mount the drag strut assembly, it has three tabs that only line up on two holes. To make all three meet up requires some force. I need to find out just how the main gear sit while on the ground. If I get the two tabs on the drag strut assembly to mate up with the main strut then this is what results. Time for more head scratching...... Dave

I dunno anything about this particular plane, and I don't have any reference, unfortunately. If this can help, I'm scratching my head too, what a strange thing...
No walkaround on the net that can help you there?

Hello DickyF, It is pretty much resolved at this point. I have started gluing the main gear assembly together. I made some educated guesses. The main gear is rather complex so, I'm not sure what other A/C would share this type of gear or components. Hello Luigi, I have spent a fair bit of time scrounging for reference pics. It's either feast or famine. As for the nacelles and interior shots of them.....it's famine. I was able to get some much deserved bench time in this am. The main gear is starting to get glued together. Last night while perusing the Ginter book, I noticed that there are a few items missing from the kit. There are a few struts missing and, the hydraulic actuator is not even mentioned. There was some detail molded in that I shaved off on the ceiling of the wheel well. It left me wondering....hmmmm..."That doesn't go to anything on the sprues or is even mentioned in the instructions" . Two hydraulic actuators and associated assemblies, coming up. The assembly by itself. While the glue was drying for some of the main gear assembly, I turned my attentions to the exhaust stacks. They had a hole in them, which was a nice start. Unfortunately, it would have meant that the exhaust walls would have been about a half an inch thick. This will not do....get the school master.... :DSorry, I had some Floyd playing at the bench this am. While drilling them out I destroyed one of them. So I replaced it with some styrene rod. I had also noticed that the molds are starting to show their age. One of the upper stacks came out just fine. The other.....not so much.... Here's the after pic. The styrene rod as it turns out is not perfectly round. This is going to have to do. Dave
