Thank you my friend. The primer is the light grey. Worked up in light fine coats, it covers wonderfully. I got the other side painted up but, I still have yet to build a small intake trunk for this side. Too little sleep after getting off work this am. Ugh. Tomorrow it'll be done.

Well today didn't quite go as planned. Between a motorcycle getting serviced and being dads taxi service…no bench time as yet. Thus no now intake as yet.

Thank you for the compliment. How I started with the scratch building was to detail some small area that wouldn't show very much. That way I could learn as I went and, if I bodgered it then, I would not worry too much about having to redo it. Instead, I'd learn from it. One of the items I use is the Testors glue in the triangular black container. It has a stainless steel applicator. This works well but, for my applications, it still flows too much too fast. What I ended up doing was soldering a piece of stainless steel hypodermic tubing to the inside of the stock piece of stainless steel tubing. THe piece I used has and inside diameter of 0.010". This will truly put down just a "dab" of glue. You can see the difference with the diameters. The modified one is on the left. Stock on the right.
 

I am currently working on the engine accessories, along with all of the other bits and bobs that are to go into the nacelles.

I used you pointer on finding the center of a styrene rod and it worked well, the idea with the tube on the Testors bottle is a solution to the heavy flow.  I was a Testors Guy until I tried Tamiya "Extra Thin Glue" which really works much better for me, with Testors I always had too much glue and maybe your tube change would correct that but I can really control the Extra Thin.

I'm not too knowledgeable about Wingy models but yours and Bezoula's builds are very interesting and informative.

Good to hear! Since I've added the smaller tube to the Testors glue, it has been my go-to glue. I'll also use it to tack on pieces that I may need to fine tune the position on and then I'll hit the joint with Ambroid to fix it in place.

Learn something every day, "Ambroid" which appears to be a Tenax glue is a new name to me.  I use MEK for super thin and can see that you must tack your parts with the Testors and finish the joints with Ambroid to keep neat looking joints which I will adopt to my gluing use as I often have too much glue showing.  In the process I see there is a new tool out named a "Glue Looper" which certainly looks like a useful tool.  I like the term, it is what they call the caddy's over at Bandon Dunes golf course.

Hello bbd468, Who cares about the wordsmithing......as long as you get the message across. And you did!

Not as mush done yesterday as I had thought was going to happen. I got the engine accessory sections coated with primer. Then SWMBO got up and was feeling better after a 19 day stretch than she thought she would soooooo......we fired up the bikes and went on a 232 mile putt. If you're ever in the pacific northwest and would like some beautiful and desolately beautiful scenery then, check out Highway 242. It'll drop you into the out skirts of Sisters. Had an excellent Mexican lunch there and then meandered our way home. At the end of it, there were a couple of cold ones waiting for us.

Enough blabbering! The engine accessory sections both got their base colors on today. I'm letting the paint get good and dry before the weathering.


Here are the colors used. The only one not shown is the BIG bottle of Vallejo Light Grey Primer.


This part was done up several nights ago. I snapped a pic just to show how the ducts were done up. This was the second of the wings to be done. I had to build a new duct (the right hand one) as the predecessor went AWOL..

It was a heck of a weekend. You're absolutely right! What's not to like? Lots of mileage on the Harleys. Beautiful scenery! Great food. With the woman I love. And for reasons not yet understood to science she's just as happy with me. To cap it all off, I got bench time. Now back to work as it affords my those things I love to do.

Thank you for posting the Looper pic. It's about what I've been doing......on the cheap. I'll take a section of 32 gauge wire, form a loop at the end with needle tweezers. As the end gunks up, I simply trim it off, make another loop and keep going. I get a spool of the stuff at Michaels and, it lasts a very long time.

Great idea I was just getting ready to order it.  A wire loop flattened with a hammer why wasn't I thinking, also an old #11 blade with a hole drilled in the end if one wanted a handle though wire in a dowel would also do the job, thanks.

You must have missed the news when one of the Shorb girls decided that she would shake things up in the last week before she graduated, made Good Morning America but the school took away her Valedictorian and she couldn't go on the graduation trip to Tijuana  as I remember, Powers is an interesting place as some very small isolated towns are.

Hello Bones, I'll have to try hammering the loop to see how that affects the feed of the CA. I've only ever made a simple loop at the end with the needle nose tweezers. You are most welcome.
I do remember that story but, had forgotten that is was a "local" incident. I hear ya about small towns. Most of my life was in large schools and by the time we moved up here the high school I graduated from had less than 40 in the graduating class.

The interior nacelle colors got laid down today. I used the same Polly Scale and Life Color paints as before. I post shaded the dark recesses with the Life Color OD. It doesn't show very well, if at all in these pics but, it is there. Now that all the base colors are laid down, the weathering can start tomorrow.

Hello Andy,
I was a bit worried about the paint obscuring the detail. Not so worried now. It should get better with the pin washes, highlighting and such. I am very much looking forward to that. Tomorrow is looking pretty good for it. When the nacelles are done all that remains is the exterior. Much of that will be correcting access panels, the redo of the center line hard point and the mounting of the Brassin HVARs.
