John, do you have any trouble with the compressor being "slow?" I seem to remember when I tried to use something bought overseas back here in US with a transformer, that it was less than normal performance. No. It works just fine. Did you ever test out the transformer with another 240v appliance?

Very cool paint table John, I had to go the opposite direction and made mine lower so I can sit and paint, My back just starts to kill me if I stand to long. The joys of getting older.
Actually that's a swamp cooler. I found out in my main shop, by adding a little humidity to the air really helps keep the dust down when painting. We have Central AC in the house but only run it when the swamp coolers can't cool down the house. Got tired of $500 electric bills.
As for paint drying to fast, Since you're only up the road from me I can say that the only thing I have found that will actually slow the paint a little is XIM Acrylic Paint Conditioner but it doesn't slow it down enough but at least it keeps my tip from plugging up so I guess that's good enough. When I squirt enamels I use Omni Automotive "SLOW" Reducer that slows it down enough to keep the tip from clogging for me but is completely dry in 2 or 3 minutes.

So it was Time to upgrade this. I ordered from Hobyzone and about 30 boxes arrived and after a lot of work because all of it was flat pack...... I moved the lights also and that was not an easy feat, i almost snapped one in half in frustration everything is nice and neat and i have a shed load of storage yet to fill This was an expensive investment over €400 but i had it slated to do it this year so i dont mind. Now all i have to do is remember where i put stuff

Mr. Spud, ya killin me man, what a room. And Billiejean, wow girl, looks like my wife did my model room, Ha! If she could run a vac thru my bunker I'd be toast, literally, lol. What I've noticed is everything is within reach, right where it needs to be, perfect. My bunker is only 6.5' by 13.6', so space is at a premium, but cozy and, all is within reach. Now, after "Easy Pickins" is done I'll rearrange shelving space and make it a bit cleaner. I feel like a grubby pig after lookin over yalz work. Great caves yall, bunkers and all. Cheers, Ski.

I don't really like looking at this thread - it makes me soooooo jealous seeing all your great man/woman caves. One day I'll give you all a good laugh and post a picture of where my 'magic' happens...

No worries Brotha, this didn't happen over night. I used a crappy bench for years, but fortunately the house I bought had the room, so I made it work.
Cheers, Ski.

Those of you who can't stand chaos, or cramped working conditions: avert your eyes NOW! I was going to tidy up, but that wouldn't be a true reflection - as my projects progress my bench gets more and more cluttered. Once a build is completed, bench gets cleared only for the cycle to start again: Stash and supplies are kept in a tiny store room, painting happens in a badly lit cellar. This house is like an inverted TARDIS: looks really big from the outside, but the interior was designed by someone with agoraphobia...

Dierk
Hats off for producing such great stuff in such a small space!!
It makes my dining room table look huge in comparison.
BillieJean - as for your workshop what can I say....other than I am VERY jealous!!

There are some great workbench/man caves in this thread...I'm Jealous of the space some of you have. This is my man cave. I work from home so my model building space has to share with my work space.

Nice, but way too neat and organized. I had just straightened it up when I took the picture. It's already inching back towards disorganization. I have to stop every few days when I'm building and put everything away otherwise it just turns into a huge mess which drives me crazy. I think I'm slight OCD or something.

fhvn, Nice space!
I really like your use of PVC for organization. I may have to copy some of what you did.

fhvn, Nice space! I really like your use of PVC for organization. I may have to copy some of what you did. Feel Free!!! I really like the small PVC and the bigger ones on top.... Honestly the paint rack underneath is no longer really used and I have been trying to decide what to do with that space as I now have a whole different set of stadium style racks for my paint. As you can see I tend to make a mess when I build but once I am done with something I like to re-organize everything to where it is suppose to be (for a few minutes anyway). The intent was to have one side of the desk for building and fabricating, and the other side for painting and finishing. The drawer units from Craftsman have had several changes in their trays over the years, the current set up has the 5 drawer unit full of all my base building and scratch building materials, and the three drawer unit has all my specialized construction tools ( drill bits, airbrush stuff, PE benders etc). That top mounted red toolbox is pretty much a set of "junk drawers" that actually dont have specific purposes LOL. the desktop thing is just 1x4 inch oak from Home Depot cut and nailed, with some 2x1/4 inch spacers.... whole thing probably cost me about 10 bucks to make.

Well, my build area is about to be revamped on Monday, so I’m in the process of getting everything down/or off the way. But my man cave display & relaxation area is fully up & running

Nice display area!
But I'll need more photo's/info on the Gemini. I assume its the old Revel kit.
Any build info? Modifications?

That wall is about 200% more display space than I have in my whole house. Living room My bathroom Rec room (pool room) Spare bedroom Other spare bedroom I would show my stash but it is spread throughout every closet, cabinet, shelf and room in the house.

Mark Mark, yes it is the Revell kit, last re issued in 2013 and I did a build review of the kit on another site. Aside from changes to the paintwork callouts, I did not modify the kit at all. Here is a link to the review build SPAM Gemini Review
