Hi Steve, this will be outstanding when finished, so looking forward to that. Very well done so far mate anything on that base could win in any competition. Dennis

Thx Dennis, you are too kind Amigo.
It appears the consensus is "go for it", so I will proceed as planned. I'll keep working it as long as the lousy weather is upon us. I've got the material for a 1:1 build on the house sitting, waiting, for a sunny day, lol.
Thx again Dennis, Ski.

There's considerable empty space between the BMW and the archway. Maybe fill it with a cobblestone path or somehow show a different surface texture in that area to visually fill the space.

Thx John,
I'll be adding some tile around the water fountain plus and path leading into the cemetery, and grass too, etc. Haven't quit got that far, but I will balance it out as suggested. I'm going to take my time on this part, make or break is where I'm at right now.
thx for the input Ma Brotha. Cheers, Ski.

Been getting a little work done on the wall section for the cemetery using Laszlo Adoba's "Building Dioramas 1,2 &3". These are great book and well worth the investment. They are not expensive by any means. Kuddos to Laszlo! Here's a quick pictorial of how I got to where I am now with the stucco wall. I am using 1" thick construction foam board commonly used to insulate the exterior of your average basement wall. It's an easy process and the example took me less than an hour, so here goes...... All the materials needed which can be acquired from your local hardware store. Using thinned drywall patching compound and a basic brush I applied a semi-thick layer directly onto the foam. Next I used Spackle in a common kitchen sifter and coated the entire work area making sure to cover all the "blue" that might show through. Here's a photo of the sample section after I used a hair dryer to speed up the drying process. Some of the Spackle will fall off, but not much. After the Spackle had been dried I misted the work area with a water bottle mister to cement the top layer (sifted) to the work piece. Then use the hair dryer once again to dry completely. Priming the surface is a tricky process so you need to take a few precautions to avoid "burning or melting" the foam sheet. Lacquer based primers will melt or burn the foam really quick, so a light coat is recommended, then build up a second layer if you feel it's necessary. If you rush this process the primer will leach through the Spackle and come in contact with the foam and destroy all you have done up to this point. I taped off any areas that were not treated to avoid a major mess. And finally we have a finished section ready for painting. I would suggest using an air brush for your first coat and then brush on subsequent coats. The Spackle will suck up most of the first coat, so be prepared to make a few passes before the color is satisfactory. As you can see from this example it's not a difficult process, so why spend money buying kits of plastic buildings when you can make you own. The possibilities are endless and only depending on your imagination, and of course, realism is a factor, too. Thx for watchin and more to follow soon. Cheers, Ski.

Well, since the bunker has been powered down for the summer I've been busy knocking out the ta do-list.
Actually, I'm tired of re-shoveling the patio only to find 15 minutes later the roof releases a mother load and I'm right back where I started. So, with a little know how and $800 in material, "get er done!" I've got a pole barn on that list too, but that won't happen till Spring 2018.
This is my current 1:1 scale build.
Oooh, check out them poles, all in a perfect alignment, HA! Amazing what a string will do for ya, lol.
And of course, gotta have my laborers to help, or get in the way; Kenai and Nekia. Both from the same litter, and these boys seem to like eating my wooden stakes. At almost 9 months they're a real hoot and keep me laughing. I just gotta teach em to recover a brew from the cooler at the end of the day. My luck they'll drink it or slobber the snot out of it before I get it. Mighty fine pups.
Cheers for now, Ski.

Sorry Gents
This thread will cease to be active until I can find another pic host, cheaper. Photobucket wants to rape it's users. I don't mind paying for the service, but I refuse to get raped in the process. I will revert back to Fotki, they are way less expensive and I've already paid a yrs sub. I may have to start a new thread. This is flat out Bravo Sierra, IMHO.
I refuse to pay $400/yr to post pics thru Photobucket, they can go to hell, hell, hell......................,as Billy the Kid said in the movie "Young Guns", HA!
Cheers, Ski.

Hi Kostas, I've been using Fotki for yrs, and I pay for it, so I'm stayin put for now. Thx for the heads up.
Ok, as promised Leon, gate pics:
Brass and copper rod for the gate construction. Looking at older gates I noticed the use of square rod only. Oh well, I ain't changing it now.
A little primer after the gate latch was soldered on.
The salt and hairspray method for heavy paint chipping, still more details to do.
As you can see, lots more work to do just on the salt alone.
I'll get some "up to speed" pics up soon, but so yall don't think I've been playin War thunder when I could have been sniffin paint, I lied, I have, HA! Actually, smog alert from the fires in Idaho, Canada and Montana have really set in for the past week and a half, so now I have my excuse for not splittin fire wood.
Cheers, Ski.
