Ski stunning work mate, if you don't like the length of time that oils take to dry, have you tried Alkyd paints, made by Windsor and Newton, they have the same qualities as oils but dry much quicker, normally a couple of hours

Thx Brother Paul. Ah, old fart habits die way too hard to change now, but I do appreciate the reference Bro. I'm use to the medium and work it as it goes, makes watchin war flicks part of the process, lol.
Joe, haven't ya heard, "So easy even a caveman can do it." Lol.

Yep,I usually go into DT's when I miss a day in the winter, that's my production time. Tomorrow I'll get back to the hands and try to wrap up the upper torso, then dull coat it to seal any future damage. Then I'll get after the trousers hopefully by Friday. The trousers should be a smooth blending process and a fun one. I'm going to get back to the head this weekend, try to recover the momentum on the flesh tones, been jackin me up lately. Ah, happens from time to time. Thx for watch Brotha Joe! Cheers, Ski.

I've been watching and watching this thread develop. I can't wait to see the heads placed on the figures. The faces are just beautiful. The uniform work is also excellent; but it's in the face painting where we see the difference between guys who are good and guys who come home with metals.

Thx Smudge, good to see you again Bro.
I'm working the trousers now, colors are starting to tick me off, lol. The sheen can really mess with your head at times. I'll post some pics soon. Plus, I softened up the heavy contrast on the head flesh tones, need to match the hands before closing out the flesh work.
Thx for watchin Bro. Cheers, Ski.

Thx Bro. Having that fine sculpted detail really helps with the definition when painting. Otherwise you have to infer the veins are there, much harder.
Thx for watchin. Cheers, Ski.

Thx Phil, I appreciate the compliment.
I got pretty livid this morning when I tried to "Dull Coat" the entire fig. The can was weak (shy in content) and may have contributed to the shiny coat that followed. Needless to say I was Peeved! Yes, on Christmas morning I tried to carry on. So....I gave a light coat of Floquil "Flat Finish". What a joke, a royal frig-up! Then I attempted to airbrush the for mentioned medium with a light coat on...............ya right. It looked like I used a semi gloss finish.
I immediately got on line for more Testors "Dull Coat". It's on the way, very soon, so I can carry on upon arrival. Bro, I was so close to launching this fig into the abyss,.......it was pathetic.
I let the better part of common sense take over and left the room to start another day, my wife stopped my madness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lesson learned, don't ever use a shy can of "Dull Coat" on anything important, that means NOTHING! I was rushing the process and violated my own rule, never be in a "rush" to finish a project.
Dull Coat has only given me a problem yrs ago, but never with a shy, near empty, can. Any thoughts Gents, I'm all ears on a better way to dull a finish! I've always had great results with "Dull Coat", so let er rip. I'm all ears and by no means do I know everything.
Thx for watchin. Cheers, Ski.
