no pictures but exciting news, at least for me.
the gaps appear to be gone. most of the raised detail is also but the gaps are gone. and i found a scheme for the bird that i have the paint for. yippeee. pretty happy about that. now i have to let the thing sit for a while. i really have to let it sit.
dang it this will be hard. i really want to get this painted now.

sorry about that. forgot to let in on that. all i did was shim in pieces of .010 sheet styrene until they would not fit. coat with glue of choice, for me ambroid pro weld. i let that dry completely and then trimed it close and sanded. i used bondo glazing putty to cover anything small that still showed up.
sorry i was really struggling with what scheme as i really dont have a lot of paints for german birds. became pretty excited when i found 3 that would work for a kit scheme. was so excited i had the paints i dove into the black primer and then the actual colors pretty quick. actually forgot to take any pictures. hopefully i can rectify this tonight.

just a brief update. i think i fixed the gaps. i finished the major construction. the landing gear is only there for keeping the build up off the engines. so here is where i am at the moment. and where the gaps were. well there she is. dont be distracted by the color on the top of the wings. that wont be there much longer. i am planning on getting some more paint booth time very soon. comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. joe

I have one of Brett Green's books on building the 262 in hard back, that I'd have given you. He does the Hasegawa 1/32 kit in a puttied and unpainted state, and is really neat to see. I found two of them for the right price on a table at the half priced book store three or four years ago, and thought it might be the perfect aid in building a 1/32 Trumpeter kit I picked up a week or two prior. Yours if you want it! gary

gary in the book does it show the wing root on the underside? i would love to see if mine was just an oddball or if they all are similar.
thank you for the kind offer. i can say that it would be wasted on me. i do not plan to build another of these beasts. just not my thing i am afraid. like my a/c with props and stars.

They did a sheet metal fix made from an old coke can! Didn't look bad when they got done with it. The 262 they built was unpainted bare metal with all the bondo applied to the seams (most 262's werw bondo'd in the seams to make them slicker in the air). I have two of these books, and it's yours if you want it. The most interesting build in the book is actually a 1/72 scale 262 from Revell (of all people). I got the Trumpeter kit along with their Mig 29 in an after Christmass sale at 50% off a couple years ago, and keep forgetting that I even own them! The Mig's a little too big for me, but really like the looks of it. Probably put it up for trades with about another two dozen kits whenever I get the time. gary

many thanks for your kindness. ok my update. now i want no one to take this wrong. not a bash of my so called abilities. I SUCK AT BUILDING GERMAN AIRCRAFT. I SUCK AT PAINTING THEM. I SUCK AT GERMAN AIRCRAFT. now with that being said i will relate the last few days. got the cammo painted. it looks decent. tried to replicate the squiggly little paint splotches. miserable failure. went with a sponge so i could try again. miserable failure. broke the antenna off. went to attach the landing gear. miserable failure. simply put this particular build has been fighting me tooth and nail for the last few days. the engine nacilles are off by a bit. the paint sucks. after the pictures were taken the landing gear collapsed, yet again. here is the miserable piece of plastic. so there you have it. i am not repainting the dang thing again. i have the landing gear in place for the moment. as long as i dont touch it they will stay in the right place. i am going to move on, gloss coat, place decals, and maybe weather a bit, not much but a bit. i am hating german a/c and hasegawa kits right at the moment. joe

They don't look that bad at all. Just do an overspray to tone the dots down... then washes will make them look good! Just use one of many great armor techniques on your little plane.
