Hi Dan, I like what you've done with the KT so far mate. Nice contrast between the turret and the hull: something similar which I was planning for my Panther F. What you can do also is simulate the factory chalk markings which I've seen on some primerred models it can be seen on this Elefant for instance: Cheers

Just a quick update on the KT i have fitted all the roadwheels, weathered the lower hull with Tamiya earth colours and plaster and gave the KT a matt coat to protect the paint so far, the roadwheels will be getting some oil stains and dirt then i will fit the tracks. Dan B

As the KT is nearing completion i have decided to give a base to which it rightly deserves!!!!! lol i have been having issues with the original dio and have decided to shelve this until i get some inspiration. The vigenette is late war city scene in Berlin i have used the new ruined building from my latest dio as it suits the size of the base. Base: I used a 10 by 10 inch cake board. Scenery: for this i used broken up pieces of polystyrene and stuck these with a non solvent building adhesive once dry i covered it in a thin layer of outdoor cement filler this gave some height for the rubble to sit on. Once the filler was dry it was covered in pva glue and a load of cork bricks were randomly placed over the filler. The building was then attached this still needs to be finished MORE DAMN BRICKS!!!!!!! then i snapped up some hot drink stirrers as floor boards and placed over the brickwork. i am waiting for some cobblestone to arrive in the post to finish the groundwork and this is where the KT will end up sitting. I managed to get a day at the workbench yesterday and got a lot of work done i could not believe how much there is to do on such a small base!!!!! the building is finished just needs a rub up with sandpaper and a few bullet holes here and there. I made some steel i beams and used them in the walls of the factory workhouse building and added a few bits of the beam to the ground work i am in the process of making a main roof beam that will lay against the inside wall to simulate a roof collapse. I gave every brick a covering of mortar for this i used watered down filler and applied the mixture with a small paintbrush i then mixed up some sanded cork, cat litter and fine ballast added pva glue with water and mixed to a thin paste this was then poured over the ground work. The cobblestones were then added i still have not finished them as i have run out so by mid next week this should be completed. As i had the table set up for photos i took some of the KT after a few people wanted to see it i have decided to give it a bit more weathering as it looks to clean. and now some with the KT and building. my favourite so far Dan B

Very nice set up Dan, with the groundwork finished, I'm pretty sure it'll be a real winner!
The KT looks fantastic, weathering is terrific mate, and all those colors...lot's of interest!
Just one small remark: it seems like the commanders hatch isn't sitting level...or is it the intention maybe?
Cheers

Just a quick update i have finished all of the groundwork now and have started the painting stage I started by priming the whole base with a off white mix of Tamiya white and a few drops of dark yellow this will be the mortar colour for when i paint the individual bricks on the ground. Once this was dry i mixed up a brick red colour using Vallejo cavalry red and lemon yellow this was then airbrushed over the building instead of making it a solid colour i left some areas lighter to aid the weathering stages once this was dry i made a thin wash of german black brown and sprayed in some dark areas to replicate shadows and darker bricks. I left this to dry under my lamp for 10 mins then started the grouting i used interior polyfilla this was applied to the building i left a few areas to replicate mortar that has fallen out. This was left for 30 mins to dry then i applied a wash of german pale brown to tone the polyfilla down i applied this by downward strokes, i then did the same with a wash of Tamiya neutral grey. The next stage was to add a bit more colour to the bricks this was done by using artists pastels and turpentine i used red colours and oxide colours. i then added the two Volkstrum figures i will use in the finished base to give an idea of what it will look like. i think i will repeat the wash stages again t darken the colours down a bit then i will move nto the groundwork . Great base Dan, the cork building does it. It's a wonderful material to create such projects and big fun too. Now a rusty rain pipe ? Btw. the tank looks fabulous !
