Hi guys. Built this puppy up over the weekend. As soon as I can get some paint time I'll post an update. Does anyone know of a good (and not too expensive) set of tracks for this kit?

Hey Scott. Nice to see this one being posted here. Sorry for the bouncing around, forum is still new and we're trying to fix and work on things as we go.
As for the tracks it would depend on how much you want to spend. Unless someone has extra Dragon tracks they can part with

No worries. I wasn't sure if I posted in the correct spot...
- I have a set of Hobby Boss Styrene tracks for a King Tiger..I think I paid under $30 for those. I'd spend $20 on tracks for this...
Or pay a bit for extra Dragon Tracks if someone has some they won't be using.

Hey Rob, I think Steve could probably take one link from each T-34 kit he has and build the pair....spares included Sorry Steve....almost true though ;D Scott...Nice to see this here!! These beasts sure do have a home here!!! Looking forward to seeing you spread some paint down!!!!

Man I sure love building models. What a fun experience that was.So I'll start this post with a few comments. 1. This is my first attempt at painting a tank. 2. This is my first attempt at color modulation. 3. Please give me some honest feedback. I want to learn. I am not a baby. 4. Do not allow #1 and #2 to influence #3. 5. See #3. I want to thank Iain @ AK Interactive USA for the 4BO Russian Green Special Modulation Set. The quality of the paint is very, very good and what I've come to expect from Vallejo (this product includes Vallejo Paint that was formulated under the direction of AK Interactive). It is very similar to the Model Air line and the primer is especially nice and smooth - great shade too. The palette of colors is fantastic and you have more than enough paint to complete many projects. The step-by-step illustrations on the reverse of the package is a nice touch and certainly helped me approach this session. I used the complete range of colors saving the final coat of Satin Varnish for tomorrow. If you're into Russian Armor do yourself a favor; CLICK HERE and order this set today. You won't be disappointed. All painting was done using a Badger Patriot 105 at 18psi. I drank 2 cups of coffee during this paint session. I also took the garbage to the curb mid-way through.

I'm liking this a lot so far Scott. Great first attempt bro. It will all blend together after filters and weathering. The AK paints are very easy to work with and go on smooth.
Two cups only.......!!!!!

A bit more done on this build. First up, I painted the wooden boxes using the method that Ken taught on SMA. Then I added Some rails, track attachments, tool box, etc.... I have no idea why I didn't add this before paint!?! You can also see the wooden boxes after an application of Burnt Umber oil. I have to touch up the modulation on one of the gas tanks. I added that after so I could get the side of it covered. QUESTION: Would those wooden boxes have been painted green? If so I'll apply some AK Chipping Fluid first and chip the paint. Now, onto the tracks. I primered then painted Vallejo Rust. Over that I sprayed flat black. I'm thinking I should go over them again with Vallejo Mahogony Brown (70846) - just to rust em up more. I've read that they were factory painted black but that the black paint would soon wear off. Thanks for looking and feel free to critique and/or share some ideas/corrections.

Another small update before I return to my life...(decorating the tree tonight....JOY!) Instead of the kit unditching log and cable I decided to use dowel and cable from a car mirror. (The kind that you can adjust with a 'joystick' of sorts.) The 'log' was scraped with a razor saw and then painted with a dark grey, wiped with a rag and then AK Dark Brown Wash. I'll wash it more later.

Nice updates Scott!!! Leaps and bounds!!!! First off....was I suppose to read the word "Joy" as Happy happy, Joy Joy or sarcastically?? LOL I personally not a huge fan of the attic throwing-up Christmas myself!! I enjoy it for the Kids Back on track!! Sweet bid on the mirror cable!!! Looks perfect!! Love the boxes too!!! Honestly, whether they are suppose to be green or not...I like them natural!!! Chipping would look Kool too tho!! That helped didn't it?? Looking forward to some weathering!!!

Thanks but never made a video for this tank. You might be thinking of the tutorial Ken Abrams made for the wood FX.

Thanks zlikovac..I appreciate the feedback.
T - er....sarcasm, at least 50% sarcasm.
Yeah, that mirror cable was a great find. I think I'll try to scavenge more at a junkyard sometime. Bit of AK rust wash and a few pigments and I think it should look convincing. As for boxes, either natural or heavily chipped...this tank get's a late winter/runny whitewash so I'll see.....
Now, a filter or 4.

Hi Scott, I agree with jackwagon, this looks great. You are creating a lot of interest on the paintwork with your weathering. Looks great!

Thank you gentlemen. Decals...yeah I should address those shouldn't I? Then a filter or two more.

yeah, it's best you add them prior to weathering. If you do it afterwards it would look a bit odd I guess ^^
Cheers

True, true. This wasn't meant to become a wash...but kinda did. I'll get the decals on and then a few more layers...shouldn't bother it too much.

Looking great Scott!!! Yeah I suppose you would want to get those decs up before! Nice clear coat and filter away I think all is good!!! I like the way those applied filters have toned the paint work right in!!! Got a T-34 sitting on the bench right now!!! Waiting on a go from Mr. Reid and I start cutting!!

yip, your getting it down now Scott. The effects are showing. Once you add some dust to the model it will all blend and tone the CM down even more. keep at it fella...me likes it so far.
For an old kit, you've made a good job of it Scott. keep at it bro
