Thanks guys. I've been working at the tracks on and off today. Using a selection of rust tone Vallejo Model Color paints and a sponge. The waffle pattern on the topside is really 'dense'. Having a hard time getting color in the recesses. I'm going to use pigments to get some rusty tones in there. Still lots to do on these; several washes, pigments and graphite, but it's a start. Thanks for all the tips and advise Ken. Continuing along I've used variety of AK Washes. I followed this with Vallejo Pigments and then washes a few more links with the AK Washes. Finally I used AK Dark Steel Pigments to expose metal where the road wheels rub and also on the highest point of the outer side. After that I used a Silver Prismacolor Pencil and rubbed some of the edges and corners. The pencil is a bit brighter than the AK Dark Steel and adds a bit of variety to the sheen. Overall experience: Totally fun.

Very nice work on the tracks Scott. Does look like you had fun doing it. I too use both the steel pig and pencil on my 152 tracks. The effects look great here. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks guys. Now that the tracks are pretty much done I've started chipping the paint. First, sponging a light green and then hand painting the exposed steel inside the light green. I got carried away a bit...but it was fun. The white wash, later, will cover some of it. Crits more than welcome.

Chipping looks first class Scott...like a pro. The CM really looks great with the weathering on it. I'm really liking how this is turning out.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. This morning I added some paint chips to the turret. I also painted the barrel white. This is per the instructions for the specific markings I added. I airbrushed a very light grey white, then sponged pure white and painted the exposed steel same as the rest. This afternoon, with a ton of help from Abrams, I started to weather the horizontal sections of the hull. In a nutshell, I added various AK Interactive FX products and then feathered the edges with their White Spirit. Between each go-round I'd dry the tank with a hair dryer and then repeat. The goal is to add filth in areas that would collect filth. I will continue building up additional layers, but for now I'm taking a break. My wife mentioned something about dishes...

Another update. This morning I messed around with trees. Trying to model some evergreens using the furnace filter method commonly seen in Model Railroading. What do you think? I'm not sure if they work to be quite honest. +++ For the last couple of hours I've been adding some AK Interactive streaks and washes. Trying not to overdo it and just having fun learning how to use these awesome products.

Found it!!! I knew you had an update today!!! Outstanding Scott!!! You are nailing some great depth on this!!! I think personally I would pop some more rusty and dark streaking (duh...I think I told youn that already) On the other side of the coin, I certainly could live with this too!!! That turret and barrel are just bangin'!!!

Thanks Todd. Still have more streaking to do but for the last bit it's been ground work. Last night I made a mix of Celluclay, glue, water, some dark pigments and dried dirt. I left it to dry overnight. This morning I airbrushed a variety of earth tones using Vallejo Model Air. From there...well a ton of stuff including Woodland Scenics. I made a fence using dowel and stir sticks...and incorporated the smallest of my 'furnace filter' trees. I had received a sample of the upcoming Armor Farm scenery line and I gotta say, it's very convincing. I've used their Saplings, Grass, and Bushes so far. Still lots to do but that's a wrap for today.

Love the base and ground work Scott. Yeah the ArmorFarm products do look great and liven up the base. The only thing that bothers me are the lonely tall tan colored grass. Althought accurate in that you can find this in real life, yours needs a bit of height variation. It's all straight up and the same height. Maybe add some shorter ones around or near those tall ones. just my observation and 2 pennies worth. Other than that this baby rocks.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments.
Rob, totally true man. I'm really glad you pointed it out...I knew something looked odd and that is one of the issues...it's a bit 'flat' still. I need more variation.

Good you took the feedback the way it was meant bro. I am sure ArmorFarm has some goodies that will fit right in eh. Love how this has turned out so far, considering this is not your genre, an old Tamiya kit and the speed in which you've built the model and base.

Listen...and I don't say that alot...but I post in order to get critique so I can learn. I appreciate all the positives but I really learn from suggestions. I want nothing more than those with more experience to point out shortcomings or things I've overlooked. In the line of work I do...designing for clients, I am very, very used to having 'my art' critiqued (and sometimes rejected) Me gots a thick skin...

And a man of great character Scott. Not a prob with critic then bro. That Tamiya kit sucks ((((((LOL)))))) but man you made her look great. Thing is with the base, Like Ken and I am sure others. I sit here and can look out the window and see just the type of landscape your depicting. That's why I mentioned the variation. I'm now expert on groundwoork and can only go by what I see. When I start my JT base, please feel free to point things out that I may not see, or overlook.
keep it coming Scott, lovin your armor stuff so far bro.
