M110 A1 + British Army M110 A2 moved to MHISCF

This is one of the projects on the table at the moment, progress is a bit slow .
It's the Verlinden conversion based on the Italeri M107, from before Italeri chose to put the M110 on the market.

Well the only difference between them is, as you mention the lenght of the barrel ( the titel should more correctly have read M110 + M110A2 ).
The short version is the original M110, which had a maximum range of 17km. The M110A1 which had the longer barrel with a plain muzzle had a maximum range of 27km, the A2 had a double muzzle had a maximum range of 29km. The M110 have now been retired from US service.

Yep Wouter they are hefty . A funny thing is that they originate from a British 8 inch artillery gun from WW1 .

Chris - I have actually made one long ago based on the Verlinden conversion (not the best conversion kit ) it's set in a Nam dio I will post some pics.
But now that Perfect Scale have released a full kit + a conversion kit you never know .

Where did you get those barrels? I am looking for a barrel for my M107. I know Barrel depot has one, but on Ebay the price of those allmost double my kit...

I have an M110a2 parked about twenty minutes south of me, and I trained on the M110. There are several slight differences between them other than the barrel. Some are kind of funny and a couple I still don't understand why. Like seat belts! There was some added stowage and the crane and spades are slightly different.

If your building a Vietnam M107, or an M110, look closely at the track your modeling. Many M107's started out as M110's, and many M110's were once M107's. The most noticeable differences are the travel lock, but the recuperators are different. The easy way to tell is that some M110's had the brackets for the travel lock (or even the complete travel lock assembly). If the M107 started life as an M110, the travel lock had to be added. A charge seven HE round at sea level and on level ground had a max range of about nine and a half miles. There was a super charge eight, but they were extremely rare, and only used with a nuke. I never saw or shot that charge.

I have quite a few photos of the M110a2 on a hard drive, and if you need to see some let me know. I have no photos of the M110. All my training on that platform was tossed in a trash can in Chu Lai, and even then most of it was on 175 guns. Lots of money wasted.
