Rob, cheers mate, have to be really careful with those Mig filters so as not to overdo it. Just been thinking about all the grey I have lined up for future builds, if I don't become reasonably proficient I will deserve a kick up the posterior ;D. Panzer I, Panzer II x2, Panzer III and a 38t. I think I see an early war bias here . Decals on, wheels just dryfitted at the moment. I've added some mud on the lower hull. Using Tamiya Dirt effect texture paint as a base and will adjust the colour using Mig pigments. cheers Rossco

Update. Extended the mud effect up a bit higher. Don't be put off by the colour it won't be staying that colour. cheers Rossco

Looking good Rossco. The chipping on this one looks especially good. If I can suggest or recommend one thing. Before adding the built up mud, spray some thinned dust onto the lower hull, then add the darker built up mud. You can still add this dust, then when dry, give the mud a darker wash and maybe drybrush. Just a tip for now or future model.
Keep up the good work, love the Marders

Who dares to say that Panzer grey is dull ? I like the heavy mud. A good overall dusting is coming up too ?

Rob, thanks mate, taken your advice, see below. It seemed to work ok for a first attempt. JT, ;D only the first installment mate, much more to come. John, cheers mate, scary part approaching so can still stuff it up. Armourguy, thanks mate, you could say a dusting is coming up. Taking Rob's advice, I gave the lower hull a dusting of very well thinned, Vallejo Dark Earth, then Mud Brown. Next came the pigments, I used Mig Dark Earth and then Russian Earth. I'm happy with the result and will get better next time. Wheels and tracks going on at the moment, so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to make a start on the Winter whitewash. cheers Rossco

Looks better Ross. As with real life, you have an accumulation of dust first, then the build up off dirt and muck. These almost always vary in color. Next time around you'll get it even better. It's all in practice.

Robbo, no problem mate, happy you found it.

Bill, thanks mate, it's a bit more than I normally weather things so taking it very slowly so as not to overdo any one thing.

That's the best approach Rossco...the rule of thumb with weathering is that when you think it's time to stop you've probably already gone too far.
