Nice work Gary! As the others have mentioned, it was standard practice on German vehicles for crew hatches that would be "exposed" to the enemy view when open (like the hatch on the Puma) be painted to match the hull color to avoid a "shoot here" kind of effect. The rest of the interior would've been Elfenbein (off white/buff) or Red Oxide depending on the time in question the vehicle was produced.

Much thanks to all you fellas! What would be more reasonable for the inner hatch...Base color or red oxide? Been painting some on the figure. Flat coat next. Ill post pics tomorrow. Gary

LOL...MF72, Things happen quick around here! ;D Thanks man. Another Q? gentlemen. I may have put and infantry cap on the figure. Would that have been completely ridiculous or is it plausible. I have gone as far on the face as im gonna and just have a base coat on the rest. Do i need to replace the cap before i continue or am i resonably good to go? Thanks fellas. By bbd468 at 2012-08-19 Puma update tonight! Gary

LOL...from my corner I would say you were reasonably "good to go" ....plausibility?? Not sure, but who cares, it looks great!!! LOL!! ;D Seen a couple of commanders in pictures before with a Field Cap style before...if that was what you were wondering about! The skin tone looks spot on fella!!! Keep it coming!

Gary,
My vote would be to go with the base color and not red oxide on the hatch. Main reason being that Puma production ran from Dec '43 to June '44 and the order for red oxide on the interiors of AFV's didn't come down until Nov-Dec '44 (and was very short lived regardless due to crew complaints about dark interiors, so the Elfenbein was reinstated). HTH and nice work on the figure!

Hello Gentlemen, Thank ya fellas! Dicky - Ive seen that darn movie 20 somethin' times over the years, but it one of the few i just drop everything and watch it. Dont happen often, but it does happen. I hope Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, or Good fellas dont come on, or i wont get anything done! ;D Slow night on the TV so progress was made. Flat coat was apllied to the Puma and shadow coat on the recessed folds on the uniform. Then ill do highlights on the uniform then details, buttons shoulder bars, etc. By bbd468 at 2012-08-20 By bbd468 at 2012-08-20 By bbd468 at 2012-08-20 Thanks for looking! Gary

Very nice looking model.

Thankya Kindly Wouter, and Richard!!! I have apllied the first oil fade to the Puma. Not decided yet to do another round. I did add the highlight coat to the Figure uniform. Ill paint the little details and may add some binoculars and strap on him. By bbd468 at 2012-08-22 By bbd468 at 2012-08-22 Thanks for looking Gentlemen! Gary
