Gary,
The flat coat looks great! What did ya use? I am slowly sneaking up on that stage with my Pz.Kpfw IV F2 and haven't bought any flat coat yet.

Gary, The flat coat looks great! What did ya use? I am slowly sneaking up on that stage with my Pz.Kpfw IV F2 and haven't bought any flat coat yet. Mike Thanks Mike! I use Tamiya Flat Base/Gloss clear Mix. Thats all i use and its never let me down. Its touchy to get the mixture right and i thin it quite a bit, but i shoot my paints on the thin side anyways. The Flat Base is an additive ans not designed to use alone...it will go white on ya qwik! If i was to guess at a ratio id say 2/3rds clear gloss to 1/3rd flat base and thin thin to your liking with Lacquer thinner. Hope that helps a little Mike. Gary

Looks awesome, Gary! Ty for the tip about the clear coat that you posted man a thread of mine btw - after seeing this, I'm even more definitely going to use it! Btw, how'd you attach the wheels and tracks in one piece? It must have been done after painting, but I don't see how . Lastly, how on earth did you get such thin freehand lines?!!?! My ab would only be able to do that if I slid the trigger so far forward that it would take 1/2 an hour for each one! Something I'm missing? Anyway, enough of my questions - time to go back to drooling at the model!

Brotha Bill, Im on it!!! Hello Oliver, Be sure to practise and tweak your flat/gloss mix till your comfy. The Track were pretty easy, I used some Loctite Blue Tak Putty to fix in plase all the wheels and sprockets then i built the tracks, glued everything together and let it dry for a couplr days. I was liberal with the cement. I have 3 airbrushes. My main work horse AB is a Iwata Eclipse HP-CS I do all my primer and base coats, panel highlighting, spraying filters etc. I love this AB!!! The one i use for camo like this marder is an Iwata High Performance-B Plus. I also do my preshade with it...mostly. Awesome AB as well. I also have a Badger 150, it is for junk jobs, bases and the like. Heres the AB's Heres a couple pics of the base so far. Man, i made a booboo! I didnt check the fit of the shells to the rack before now...the fit is not even close. Ive drilled out the rack tubes and now im having to thin the rounds to fit. AAARRRGGG!!!! SO...theres that.......... Gary

Many thanks my fine fellows! Ben, no worries mate. Only pigments will be on tracks. Dust will be Airbrushed lightly. fading and streaking will be the order of the day. I'll be real careful....PROMISE!! Gary

Hinksy is right about the camo Gary, I really hope you will go for a subtle dusterisation/muddyblubberisation. The camo is way to friggin' awesome to cover it up wit tons of pigments !
Best regards ! AG.
