Boots: thanks mate for the comment i thin the washes at times because they can be very strong and can ruin the base colours as i have learnt the hard way in the past :/ Dicky: cheers mucker im glad i painted the markings now with decs your limited with how to make them worn and as like you said we have seen a few that dont look right glad ya like it as for a base its under construction so i will show some pics soon Prof: Glad ya like it mate Andy: Im definately a fan of AK products they seem to do there job very well thanks for the comment buddy. T: Dont worry buddy if you dont catch up at all times this site is expanding at a incredible rate and its getting harder to keep up with every build glad ya took the time to comment chap Dan B

What can I say? Impressing, really impressing. IMO you didn't overdo the chipping, I've seen even more chipped paintjobs on those jap planes.

Lovely looking build. These Airfix kits have certainly improved over the last few years. And nice use of the AK stuff as well. I recently started to use this for armour and hadn't thought of it for aircraft. Then when i wanted to dirty up a Stuka a little bit, i decided to try the streaking grime and it worked a treat.

Hey all sorry for the lack of updates on the Zero times have been busy and stressful lately moving home and starting a buisness takes its toll!!!!! Stage 5....... Oils decals and a Base After reading JH's blog on how to use oils to bring certain panels to life i had to have a go Upperside...... so to lighten panels i used small dots of white, buff, yellow, bright green these were then blended together with a round soft brush dampened with white spirit to darken areas i applied small dots of blue the same blending process was used around some panel lines i used brown to dirty things up a bit once i was happy wiyh all this a dry soft flat brush was used for a final blend over all panels. Underside.... I was happy with how the filter had made the under wings grubby so not much was done here apart from 1 or 2 panels which had the brown and black treatment some oil stains were applied using black by the exhausts these were blended too. The Base.... This was a cheap 99p wooden frame painted with black acrylic then i printed off a picture of a Jap flag and wacked it in the frame two wheel chocks were made from bass wood these were then superglued to the glass where the zero will be fixed to when finished. progress pics..... next update will hopefully be the last.... Right i have finally finished this 1 i have enjoyed every minute of this build great kit would recommend this to anyone wanting to start a wingy project. To finish this off i bought a Eduard canopy mask kit once these were attached i used the same techniques for the paint as i used in the rest of the kit then i moved onto a few small details such as stretched sprue for the aerials then a quick touch up in areas i had missed hope you have enjoyed this build as much as i have heres a taster of finished pics the rest will be in my gallery.
