I managed to hit the end of the year sales just right this year after missing out on them the last two years!!
* Panzer 38T from Trumpeter * FW189a1 from Great Wall * 1/72 F4b Phantom from Hasegawa * AR196 (1/48th) from Tamiya. The price was VERY right * Bronco Piper Cub L4 Grasshopper in 1/35th * Texas ANG yellow wing F16 * Zvezda BF109F4 (three of them) * the new YAK from Zvezda (what a nice kit!!)
there's enough there to keep me busy for the rest of the year! gary

I may trade the AR196, as I'd rather have the Revell kit. The PZ38T is a kit I've been thinking about for quite awhile, and it literally landed right in my hands. Why I bought the Piper Cub I don't know as I have little desire to build it, but it's a nice kit. The 109's are an ongoing project that will involve four kits when it's all done. I'm now hunting up the ICM 109F4/r3(?) that has the camera fairing. One of the F4's will get the Vector conversion to become a 109G2. Another will become a Galland "special", and not sure what the fourth will end up being. The YAK is a beautifull kit!! Every bit as good as the F4. The FW189a1 is a night fighter, and not real sure I'll build it that way. Looks to be a nice kit.I'll more than likely build the F4b out of the box, as I love the way it was painted (even though I'm not fond of the pilot). The F16 will be done exactly like the box art, as I've been in love with that paint job forever. gary

Holy smokes! Looks like I don't have to worry about helping you haul your purchases back to your car at model show in march... LOL I've kinda gotten into the 1/72 jets thing for modern stuff (although that A37 is a little bitty thing!) WWII stuff, I still prefer 1/48th other than larger bombers which I drop back to 1/72. Last year I picked up several 1/72 Dragon armor kits that were in a 50% off sale, and I think I'm going to try that venue just for the heck of it! I still prefer 1/35th as it's easier on my eyeballs. I'm literally all over the map when it comes to models. My stash is on the verge of being out of controll right now, and I need to do a serious purge. I'd guess I have a 150 armor kits gathering dust right now, and I have no idea how many aircraft kits I have! (I'd guess my stash is close to 450 kits) Right now I doing a lot of Vietnam era stuff (aircraft), and most will be 1/72 scale. When I get tired of doing this era I want to go back a few years and try Korean War stuff. Actually have four or five Dragon armor kits sittting out to start on. Then somewhere in this mess I have to figure out a place to store my new paint booth (28"W, 20"Tall, 20" Deep). I need to move to a bigger condo! At the moment I'd kinda working on my LP collection. Trying real hard to get it all put up and out of the way (getting close to 6,000 LP's). With them out of the way I will have room to spare, but need to create space for another 2,000 LP's. Went thru about five hundred records I had bagged and really have not looked at since I bought them, and found some serious jewells in there! But even in that mess I need to do a purge. I have too many duplicates. People will ask me how many I own, and I simply have to tell them I have so many feet of LP's. I'd estimate the value at close to $40K, and maybe more. gary

Sounds like quite the score there Gary, keep us posted on your efforts! Well I don't know if any of you folks watched the show called Greatest Tank Battles in TV, but I know Bob Dillon very well, and he was the guy they interviewed on the Korean War stuff. He's been helping me put together a couple M26 Pershings, and maybe a T34-85 or two. He was the guy that was the TC that had the head on collision with the T34 they interviewed. That project got seriously stalled out as Bob got very ill last year, and is just now getting around fairly well. The guy is a serious encyclopedia of armored warfare in Korea, and folks that know him treasure him! That project is very important to me, and will move back to the top of the "do list" now that he's up and around again. But not only do I want his help on the M26 (also T26) series, but want him to help me on the Shermans and M24's as well. I also want to do a couple recon tracks from Vietnam that my brother inlaw was on, plus two or three M48's (Birdwells and the brother inlaw again). Got most of the parts for Birdwells tank, but still have lagging questions about mounting brackets. Plus I want to use the AFV tank whenever it shows up! And yes I'm still working on my M102 diorama, but it's once again stalled out. gary

Now that is a haul and a half. Nice one Gary, sounds like you'll have fun with that lot. That YAK sounds interesting, I can't say I've seen that one yet. I would rate the YAK right up there with the Zvezda BF109F4 kit in accuracey and quality. Very highly detailed engine, and good shape quality. A must for an Ost Front build gary
