well, unlike most of us here I'm not a big fan, the poly urethane primers aren't bad, but I prefer others. It's with this primer I ruined my first Afrika Kitty. Have used it afterwards, and when thinned with Vallejo airbrush cleaner it sprays a bit better, but I hate to clean the tip of the needle every 30 or 40 seconds...And I think it peels of too easy of metal parts like barrels and such. I personally prefer the Mr. Surfacer 1200 thinned with Lacquer Thinner Cheers Somewhat in line with my experiences, I can not say my experience is the last word on Vallejo paints but I have long had a problem with white color paint particularly Tamiya flat white tending to be "chalky" so I thought I would give Vallejo a shot as I have heard that a number of builders use it. Mixing and spraying were very good, the coverage excellent. Then came cleanup, what a mess, with Tamiya acrylics water and Windex and clean as new. To get my air brush clean I finally had to go to MEK and a long soak. Next I noticed that the paint would very easily rub or flake off which I cured with some dull coat but not a thing I want to make a habit of. I have found that the big rattle cans from the hardware store, with care will do the job while I look for a better solution. I did look around on the web and found that while not everyone had my experience there were enough for me to see that it was not an unusual experience.
This could be one of those like a cat licking its balls, all a matter of taste.

I'm with Teabone.
Krylon Gray, White, Red and Black spray can primer are all I use 85% of the time. It goes on smooth, adheres to any/all surfaces, sands well if needed and I can get a lot of use from one can. It can also be decanted if necessary, but cleanup requires lacquer thinner.
My other absolute fave is Plastikote T235 sandable gray primer in a rattle can. I get mine at Car Quest here in the Las Vegas area.
Think 10 x the amount of Tamiya fine surface primer for the same price.

Teabone... You are right about Vallejo paint being "soft",and yes it does rub off with out much effort. With the paints and the primers I have found that the product called Simple Green works very well for cleaning your AB after spraying.
G... How much does the Plasticoat primer build? I would like to try it,but am conserned that it will fill in all the small details.Should I be worried? Jeff T.

Boy you guys get off track fast. It's a lot of fun!
The Plastikote T235 Sandable primer is in my experience one of the best. It is a platinum gray color which lends itself any top color. I fog it on and it's thin enough that it will not obscure detail. I use it exclusively on my car models and uave had no issues with even the lightest of molded on trim.

I've been using their coloured primers ( NATO & Russian Green) for a my last few builds and have to say I haven't experienced any problems. With me though it's probably down to jammy luck rather than anything else....

Lately I have been trying out the AK primer. On my kv2 1/16.went on good. easy to spot mistakes that needs taken care of, But I think I will try the warhammer caos black for extra hard protection on this one. Might og the Mig J Winter Wash way on it. Found it went on Nice and smooth on my sturm to .I gave it a fast coat of vallejo SV and it held up good on the chipping
