Now that's right spiffy a fine piece of work overall. I need to grow a set and try a three tone camo one of these days.
Regards, Mark

Weathering, SECOND ROUND, FIGHT!!!So, back to what I like best for weathering, brushes... Took that pic with my phone, so it looks weird. But I'm almost done. I've got one step I am debating. When I put the tracks together there was no detail on the outer part of the links, the parts that actually hold the inner links together. So I'm thinking about just drilling little holes in each of them. But there are like 200+ holes to drill.

Thank you! I decided last night to NOT do it Since I'm going for a cool looking model and not accuracy. Plus, if I got one hole wrong, that would throw the whole thing off and I'd get mad and probably throw something and feel like crap. Not worth the headache. Stowage this weekend and I'm done, I hope.

Thanks again for the comments. I really do appreciate it!!! I think this is the last update before I do "final" pics. I added some nastiness to it... The light is a little harsh in the last one. This is one of the very few pre-made products I use, AK Engine Oil wash or whatever it is. I usually make all of my own weathering items like this. About a year ago I wanted to see what the big deal was with AK's stuff, it seemed like everyone in magazines were using it. So I bought a couple of items. It makes it easier, but there isn't anything there that can't be made. Anyway, I apply the "oil", then clean out the inside areas with OT. Let it dry for a while, then I streak some dirt flavored oil paint wash over it. Maybe not too realistic, but it looks cool. I also added a bit of a darker dirt over the tracks, wheels and back/lower areas of the hull. I also used that to randomly pinwash a few areas here and there. Right now I am checking for any repairs that need to be done and thinking if there is anything else I want to do to it before I call it finished.

Agree with mate Dicky! Dig the 'Wash Me' doodle very much! That's something I would have done to my friends tanks... great thinking there! It was fun following this...

All of the dirt streaks are oil paint, and the nasty oil spill spots are AK engine oil wash or whatever its called. I basically used pics I found online and tried to copy the dirtiness of those tanks. Which was actually easy for this project, there are a million pics Abrams everywhere! Try it with that T-24 I'm building in my other post.
