Started this build almost 2 weeks ago but kept forgetting to start a thread on it. So thought i better do so before it was finished. The kit allows for both an A-6 and A-8, with the preferance clearly being the A-8 as thats the only markiung option there is. This is the kit. And i will be useing a set of Eagle Strike decals. I am doing the top aircraft in this line up. Except for the control stick and seat, the cockpit is all PE. I am useing the Eduard coloured set, so i can't take to much credit for the intruments. With the fuselage together, the pit fitted in from underneath. And the wing had some surgery on the flaps. I have never done PE flaps before and this was easier than i thought it would be. Then everything went together and the painting stared with the white nose. I had a bit of an issue with the front of the pit which was all self inflicted. The PE set included an IP shroud so i had to remove the plastic one. I removed a tad to much so i had to add some filler to get the shroud right so the front of the canopy would fit ok. There was a small amount of filler needed on the wings, but nothing major. The only major issue is the outer buldge for the wing cannon. Althought the A-6 and A-8 carried the same wing guns, the referances i have suggest that the outer buldges were not fitted until the A-8. But partly because i can't 100% confirm this and mostly because to remove them would cause more harm than good, i am going to leave them. This is my second Academy 72nd kit in a row and my 4th in total and all have been really nice to build with very little issue's over fit. Sorry for the long post, i have been tying to spend more time building and less on line. Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.

Great build so far! I built the little Revell Fw-190 and it was lovely, wouldn't mind having a crack at an Academy bird. Nice job on the PE too. Look forward to the paint stage.... Cheers, Sam

Hiya Bish, great build fella, nice PE in the office. Dont worry about the outer wing bulges, some later A6's had them as it depended on which canon or gun was fitted. There were many factory and field modification kits and even mods of the mods at service levels.

Thanks guys.
Steve, i did wounder. My referances all say the standard A-6, which is what i am building, had the same MG 151's that the A-8 had. So i thought it odd the A-6 wouldn't have the outer buldges.

Hopefully i can get this up date done. Not sure whats up with the image links, i will have to check all my settings. Anyway, for now heres the 190 after adding the RLM 76 underneath and on the sides and then RLM 75 along the top and some motteling. I'm doing a scramble dio for this one with an engine starter plug in. It is looking rather shiney at the moment, still got the weathering to do and a matt coat. The base is all done. Thanks for looking guys. Bish,I sorted the image for you.Use the IMG code to post piccies Nice work on this little beaut, btw CB

Bish,
Looking good! As a work-around to your not getting the insert image link, you can use the BBCode in your post by adding the [ img] and [ /img] tags (just remove the spaces since I had to add those to show it up in this post) around the link URL. HTH!

Thanks guys. This is another important German aircraft thats been missing from the built collection, so about time i got around to it. bill, ye i did enter the codes manually, not sure why i didn't think of that before. But now everything seems back to normal and all the buttons are there. Odd but at least its sorted.

Thanks Prof. Ye it is rather small, its about half the size of the oil cart i used on the Ju 87. But theres not much detail on it and the main body was only 4 pieces.

Glad you've got your buttons back in the proper spot Bish! One of the advantages of 1/72 aircraft kits is the low parts count, makes assembly fairly straightforward.

Always good to have the buttons in the right place.
had a bit of a drama with this yesterday. The checkered decals for the nose wouldn't fit right front to back. I check referances and it wasn't my error in painting the white to far back. Turns out the kit is about 6mm to long, most of it the nose section. The wings are also out by 2mm, so the whole thing is out of prortion. Not something you would notice unless you check it, and if it wasn't for the type of decals i was applying, i wouldn't have.
On top of that, some of the decals broke apart as i was trying to get them in place. These decals conform to the panels really well, but they are very delicate. I did consider remoing all the nose decals and painting all the squares. But as its only 4 or 5 on one side that are damaged, i have decided to use what remains as a guide and fill in with paint. The black gloss enamel blends in perfectly, i just have to try and keep a steady hand. I don't want to mask as this might pull up whats left.
I guess thats payback for all the luck i had with the Stuka.

Tough break on the decals but sounds like Plan B will do the job nicely instead. Keep at it Bish!

Just realised i had missed a stage. Here i am going on about decals, and i hadn't posted the pics of the paint work finished. So here goes. The wings and top of the fuselage were masked with white tac. The motteling was done freehand. I have always like German aircraft with the yellow markings. Ashide from thearter strips, this is the first one i have done. With the white nose i rather like it. Its nice to have a bit of colour. And this is my first set of PE flaps. I rather like these and not as bad as i expected. These have since been painted as have the wheel wells. Should have the decals done today, so more photo's soon. All comments welcome.

Thanks guys. Had a bit of an enforced absence the last few days as we lost our internet connection. So a lot of catching up to do. The decals are now done and the checkered nose isn't looking to bad. Just got to give it a flat coat and i will get some more pics up.
