I have now started my build! It's a BTR-70 used in the conflict around Chechnya and fingers crossed a diorama but more on that later.. So I will be painting her based on the photo ( for discussion purposes only) I started on the figures first with a conscript being trigger happy and scanning his sector with another commander and possibly third solider watching..

I can now safely say that in the absence of instructions for this thing from Trumpy - I couldn't build a farkin'sheet of styrene There are 3 "extra" small sprues with bits and pieces I hyave no idea what to do with, and the main sprues also include extras for what appears to be a T-59 version- [which I think Trumpy also released.] So, given I bought this as "skills builder"- I'm going to make this up as I go along. Gawd only knows what it'sa going to turn out like. I think I'll just practice my painting "skills" Update during the wekk sometime peeps. BTW; Has anyone seen my Dad, I hear he's been positnig on here recently.. ;D

Well you can leave off most of the little bits that you aren't sure of, and make it an Iraqi wreck/ abandoned tank. The old Trumpy kit is not that great, like the old Tammy T-62, or ESCI kit. So it's no big loss. If you want a better more accurate model then the newer tammy T-55 is your best bet.
I'd say get some ref pics to show where the parts most likely go, not much n these tanks, and just get here built for painting. I have an old Tammy T-62 that will be slapped together just for painting tests.
try to pm Steve Reid, he may have instructions....maybe.

Well I'm in no way expert on Soviet Armour jackwagon. But one major difference is that the T62 are equipped with autoloader for the main gun and therefore only have a crew of three. If my memory is correct they had some problems with the alignment for the eject port for the used shell casing resulting in a 115mm hot casing bouncing about in the turret when it missed the eject port

Right techy question time for all you Soviet afficienados - What if any are the main differences internally between a T55 and T62? Amount of body parts jackwagon?? Don't worry Jack...I am not an expert on "Soviet Armour jackwagon" but jackwagon might be!!!!!!!!!!!!! No need....got me coat already!!

Not sure if it was the 62 or 64 -but wasn't there reports of the autoloader in its earleir versions trying to roger parts of crew anatomy into the breach? Now that would be an interesting cut away Or is that just one of those dastardly Western propoganda lies that was spread to insult good old USSR?
Not claiming to be an officianado, but I do have some stuff at home. I'll have a look and see if I've got what you are looking for jackwagon and get back to you. P

Right then Guys; Whadayathink? It from a park in Kiev , UKraine. I don't know whether is a war memorial or other. I've seen multiple variations on the colur-schemes- they obviously change every few years.

Trumpy seriously tested my farkin patience ad has now gone in the bin- only the second time I've ever done that -but just wasn't worth the effort. I've decided Mr T(amiya's) T-62 with all its faults is a better bet . Let's see what kind of a mess I can make of this one P

Less the absence of instructions and more the extra sprues that just messed with my head Spud. I've kept the KTM-5 though- been able to dry fit that togerther failry painlessly- so It'll come out sometime in the future, maybe as some scene dressing or wotnot.

Paul soory you had to bin it bud. I've the old Tammy T-62 in the stash. Might use it to mess around with. the new trumpy T-62 is the best out there.

Cheers Rob, -at least it was only a £12 junking and not 30+. I know the Tamiya one is not without its flaws -particularly with the turret, but it looks like a 62 - so that'll do me. I don't have any problem with Shake and bakes tbh. A bit of work with the plumbing etc is called for and maybe a nice Kiev colour scheme....
