The Duel part II - StuG fest
Well it's time to kick off the second part of the duel...the StuG III ausf F from Dragon. I will be building the latest release from Dragon, while T will build the older kit from Dragon. As with all newer Dragon kits this one too is loaded with parts and many are for the Ausf G version of the StuG, including the roof plate. This kits comes with some very nice PE screens, tool clamps and other bits a bobs. The magic tracks in this kit are the Wnterketten and look really nice compared to the early indi links in older Dragon kits. I will not be using the winter tracks and will save them for one of my PZ IV kits in a future build.
I start all my builds by removing the larger main parts off the sprues and do a mock up to get an idea of how the tank looks and how I want to build the model.
I started the build by following the instructions and banged out the first two steps. I then jumped around and got the rear plate done, wheels and most of the interior.
With the interior I started with the main gun and mount. Lots of nicely detailed parts here and will look great once painted.
Most of the interior done and some test fitting, really tight in there.
I'll finish off the interior and get that ready for some painting before doing the exterior building.
Off an running!!! Nice Boss!! Looking great already!! Still have time to trade ya know? LOL!!! Bring it on!! Any thought of where you are going with it this time?.....LOL I have not a clue yet, but that is the fun part...building blind!!
Very nice progress Rob! StuGs are one of my fav vehicle families, definitely looking forward to watching this one come together! Are you sticking with the kit tracks (Winterketten) or swapping them out?
Superb stuff - gotta get some of the streaking grime and more AK washes they're so simple and take so much guesswork (for me) outta the equation...... nice progress Boss - yer'll be lookin' for a base whilst Tarquin is still looking for the box!!!
If yer think yer one in a million, chances are, YOU AIN'T!
