Hi Gents, I have already started this build initially I thought I wouldn't post any details but I've changed my mind! This will not be a full blog but rather a WIP where I will update at each stage of construction. For those of you who are unaware The FV603 Saracen is a six-wheeled armoured personnel carrier built by Alvis and used by the British army. The first production vehicles were rolled off the line in 1951 and the Saracen was still in service in certain restricted roles until at least the late 1980's. The vehicle was also sold to numerous overseas buyers and is still in service in some countries today. Besides the driver a squad of 8 soldiers plus a troop commander could be carried. Most models carried a small turret on the roof, armed with a Browning .30 machine gun. There were ports on the sides through which troops could fire. Although removed from active service, it saw extensive use into the late 1980s in Northern Ireland and was a familiar sight during "The Troubles". The Saracen was in turn used as an armoured personnel carrier, armoured command vehicle and ambulance. The FV 603 model saw many variants in detail, including radio or command fitments and specialist equipment for Artillery or Signals use. I will be building my model as a MK5 serving in BAOR circa mid 1960's. The Kit! DSC_1427 by TonyThunder, on Flickr Typical KFS Resin, White metal and P/etch kit cast in a cream resin with bags of detail. As usual very little in the way of casting blocks. saracenkit by TonyThunder, on Flickr The kit parts count is 191 resin, 81 white metal and 120 etched brass parts. The build can be broken down into 5 stages plus paint 1. The outer lower hull 2. The inner hull, including engine compartment, crew and infantry compartments. 3. The inner upper hull and rear doors. 4. The turret. 5. Finishing details lights, etch, tools, hatches, decals etc. More to follow as soon as the pictures are uploaded to Flickr Tony

Up to your usual high standard I see,Mr T .I saw one of these in N.Ireland, still had the sand screen fitted!!Re the drivers seat harness, most of the 'Cans' I saw, didn't have them fitted. Slightly off topic,I heard of a fella, dropped a spanner across those battery terminals.........it welded itself, and blew the batteries...worst thing was,he had to escape through the front hatch....got acid on his 6!!!!!!

HI Bill!
Pictures back up (but for how long)
If the pics fail to show in future just click on the white box and it will take you straight to the pic on Flickr, not ideal but I seem to have a long running problem with Flickr And its a bit of a lottery with regard to which pictures will open and when!
