You've really beaten this one into submission Mark. Nice job on the decals and stowage. As I recall, isn't Gary's secret cat-food related and not wine-related?

Leon-Thanks glad you like it. I must say however that the heavy foil idea did not originate with me
Bill-Thank you sir. Come to think of it, you're probably right I don't recall for sure. Don't tell no one tho as that'll blow my excuse for drinking my favorite Dago Red out of the water
Regards, Mark

Thanks, ER
Robbo-You're not kiddin, perhaps Dragon had a deal with AM trackmakers back in those days...Thanks for lookin, glad ya like it
Nemo-As I'd much rather drink Dago red than eat cat food it's fortunate for me that the bottle foil worked. I'm pondering the base as I paint the crew, it's going to require a larger base than I generally make. It'll just squeeze on a 10"x12" base if I follow the no overhang rule and given display space that's plenty big enough, so I'm thinking a simple patch of sand. Most of the Gulf War Abrams pics I've found show them in such surroundings anyhow. I did think of a blown up oil derrick but between size and then having to put splats of nasty black simulated crude oil all over my paint job made that idea go away pretty quickly
Regards, Mark

We don't discuss Gary's cat-food habits openly, that's a topic better left untouched.

Hey Mark, Man, you nailed the ole wine bottle foil trick...looks great! Im really impressed how you've brought this from a orange box fixer-upper to a cream of the crop Abrams. Well done sir Mark! Gary

Bill-If you want to hear something scary, I dreamed up the oil derrick idea while still sober Andy-Thank you sir Gary-I love the foil idea, why it did not occur to me I cannot think. In any event that's one trick that'll not get away forom me anytime soon...Thank you also for your most generous assesment The crew It's been some time since I worked with resin figures, they are so much easier to paint than plastic. I'm starting to feel snobby.... Since there are some who indicated an interest in my base building techique during the Tiger 1 project I will very likely record and post the order and steps when I get to it in the next couple of days. Most likely the "How to" thread is the correct place for this so if you're interested look for it there. Regards, Mark

Bill, Leon, Andy-Thanks gents
Tobi-Thanks also, and the box is a CLAMS unit which is short for clear lane marking system. These would be mounted on the back of a vehicle with a mine plow and drop flares at specific intervals so following vehicles could navigate a cleared path thru a minefield. They are no longer used, don't know why
Pete-Thanks, and yes it does seem that there's a popularity wave running here
Wingy-Thanks also, glad ya like it
Gary-Well, it was ages ago those home improvement ideas interfere most unpleasantly with the important things in life ya know...Thank you for the kind comments
Regards, Mark
