I'm building this for a campaign over on Armorama, and I thought you guys might like to see it.





And this is the progress so far.











I think I'm right in thinking that the engine was the same colour as the vehicle. Can anyone can confirm this?

Neat project! I have this one in the stash so will be following along to see how it builds up. As for your question on the engine, the Germans typically didn't paint them the same as vehicle colors because they were built/assembled by other factories and shipped to the final assembly plant for inclusion. Engines and engine components (transmissions, etc) typically came in a green primer. HTH!

About the color, from David Byrden website: byrden.com/panzers/Colours/index.html

"As for vehicle engines, Mr. Doyle has "never found one where you could tell the original colour". But it seems that the engine block was left unpainted, and since it was usually cast iron, it would appear black. (The original engine from Bovington's Tiger 1 was from an early production run and had an aluminium block.) "

Of course, we modellers love to paint engines; it's part of the fun!

The gauges are from a trashed Trumpeter Sd.kfz.7 I was given. So I used the decals on this build.

Looking good with the 7. Was looking for that kit at the show this past weekend, but another member here beat me to the only one at the show...oh well.
