Yummy! Been away from the board for a few weeks, and come back to find this! Niiiiiiice! Love me some Cobra! As a matter of fact, if I were a car, I think a Cobra is what I would want to be.
Went to Vegas a few weeks back and visited Shelby HQ for the first time. Simply an amazing experience. I pulled up in the parking lot of the HQ (which is in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway complex), and a Shelby 1000 (Mustang) on a shakedown drive pulls in behind me. In the first parking spot by the front door is a brand new Shelby GT350. I get out of my car and a Super Snake pulls out headed for a shakedown. If that weren't enough, two F-15s on the runway behind LVMS crank it up and blast into the sky with A/B blazing, followed by an A-10. A few minutes later I was two feet away from the first Cobra ever built (which Shelby reportedly turned down $27 million for before he died). I honestly thought I had died and gone to heaven...
Favorite History: American Civil War, WWII in Europe, 1960s Auto Racing

Whoops, forgot to mention that I've not yet put the clear coat on this simply because I've put my back out again and I'm laying down with heat applied until it gets right again. This will at least make sure the red and white is fully cured so I'm not too bothered about that. I can do some camera book reading anyway
Leon, Steve, thanks fellas. I will get on with this tomorrow if the weather is bad, otherwise I'll be taking the kids out somewhere. I'm looking forward to seeing how that red changes when the gloss goes on
Guys, I'm considering putting this build away for a while until I get into the workshop.
Reasons being that I don't want to spray it with clear because of the amount of spray that will disperse into the air. I've got my kids health to consider and there's no way my puny extractor would deal with even a quarter of the fumes that this size build will produce. With the current situation (being in the bedroom) I feel that it may be best to limit myself to either smaller car builds or more likely the bikes as they have smaller more easily sprayed parts. This cobra has to stick out of the spray booth to spray it and I just can't bring myself to do it in the house with a 1 year old sleeping in the vicinity. When I sprayed the red and white there was tons of overspray dust and the smell was in the room for 24 hours or more afterwards.
I'll have a think about this and maybe I'll start something else instead.
Brother Boo, We'll be here and ready when ya get the Shelby back on the bench! Looking forward to see the new Man Cave Diggs when ya get all sorted. You can never be too careful with tha wee young-uns around....good call!
Gary, Boot's, thanks a lot guys for your support. I didn't want to leave this one but I've been putting it off and it dawned on me today that it would be best to postpone this and finish it as my first project in the workshop. Talking to Chrissy today and she's happy that I'm not spraying this one as the clear I use is pretty potent. We also discussed the workshop and we believe that I'll be in their by the end of July at the latest.
Joe, Robbo, Leon, thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it
I should mention that my little girl Farren has recently been diagnosed with Asthma too so I know its the right decision. I went to Ikea again today to suss out some of the cabinets and steel trolleys for the shed and its really got me excited but the best part of the visit by a long way was the Swedish Meatballs ---- Yum
Lol, meatballs ahoy Robbo. You've got me thinking about them again now mate
Bond, not for a few months sadly, I have to get the workshop built and I'm not gonna be rushing it as much as I initially planned to do as I have a new setup that I'm quite happy with until the workshops done. Maybe in the summer I could get more done as I can paint outside so you never know. Thanks for your interest buddy
I just picked this model up from a friend all parts are still in the original plastic, but It's missing the instructions. Do you still have yours laying around. It's been 15 years since I've done a build and am looking to replace my cigarette habit. I'm desperate to find these and exited to get back to it.
