Hi guys, thought I'd finally share this build with everyone here. I didn't blog this one due to some mojo issues ( I couldn't be arsed) but after the IPMS Roscoe Turner show, I've been reinvigorated and re-inspired. This was my second rusty vehicle and I think it turned out pretty well. I implemented/tweaked some techniques that I missed on the first rust bucket I did and got a little closer to what I'm shooting for with the second. Still much to learn, and I'm looking forward to the next one being even better:) I didn't take many pics during this build, but here are a few in progress shots... the seats. I ground some damage holes with the dremel, then added some tea bag cloth as textured upholstery. I also scratched some framing out of strip and some springs out of copper wire for inside the holes. a simple early shot of the interior after base colors base with frame/wheels sunk and masked, pre-grass. then with grass.. More interior, nearly finished. Yep, that's bird poop:) Just added some washes and stains after this. Here nearly done. And with final washes and pigments. Sorry for the bad pics, I was working feverishly all last week to finish it for the show this weekend. This was a super fun build, and I'm looking forward to doing another rusty one! Thanks for looking fellas:). Let me know what you think.

You are going to make many guys here happy... another rust bucket. Everything looks great! I have to ask how you managed to make good looking tall grass. I assume they were from Woodland Scenics as I have some in stash.

That sure is some fine looking rusting you've done on the old Ford Nate! I'm glad I got to see it up close at the show. Awesome!

Thanks guys! You're right Andy, the tall grass has woodland scenics grass in it, but only about 1/4 of it. The majority is a blonde halloween mullet wig that I bought for 5$ at wal-mart or something. It was a little too pale and monotone so I mixed some light greenish brown WS and some natural straw WS tall grass into the other and applied. I'll do an SBS sometime on the application. Then I just lightly misted Vallejo Green grey with my airbrush until I was happy with the shade. I also used some short green figure grass (comes in a little tub and you sprinkle it on)in the ruts and edges of the road to break it up. This was also muted with a mist of Vallejo Green-Grey. I'll confirm the names of the short green grass and the paint later. Hope this helps until the SBS:)

Man, don't you just hate when birds c*** all over your car...
Very nice effects, painting and weathering on such an otherwise very beautiful car.

Thanks guys!
Rob: yeah, I figure they used to make them out of 1/8 inch steel sheet , so I didn't tear it up to badly:) Wait til the next one though.
Dicky: PM sent, mate. thanks
T: Thanks, yeah the bird poop was something fun that I don't remember seeing much of, and I remember having pigeons in our barns as a kid and they s*** all over absolutely everything. If I could do it again, Id prolly build some texture into to it to give it more depth. It was fun to see people looking at it closer at the show. You and Rob got me hooked on the rust! So much fun:)

Wow Nate, thanks for sharing this one...what a surprise this is !!! My day started great finding this lovely photo report. Another rust bucket, and how inspiring, the bird poo is the best I've ever seen on a model, it's even better than real bird poo ! The body color is awesome, the blue matches the rust so well. And those ripped seats...stunning !
