Bruce
30 Hours, that's a definition of true dedication to building a master piece. Makes me see the amount of time it takes to make serious scratch pieces of complicated parts.
Bones.

Thanks Andy and Bones. I am not sure if it should be called dedication or insanity. I do have to say I'm pretty happy with it though. I should have it done in a day or two.

Thanks Dicky. I really do appreciate your support. This is one of the parts you wrote about earlier. I wanted to start the cab with this, and get it done because it is so important to the finished model. It should be done tomorrow. Yes, there will be pictures.

Greetings All! It was a pretty productive weekend on the radiator. As of right now, I have a little spot filling on the lettering, then the hood supports to build, and it's done. I will be "roughing in" most of the cab this week, too. As always,, I do appreciate your help and support.

Bruce
Great work on the radiator including the raised letters which I assume are on the original vehicle.

Dicky: You flatter me sir. Bones: Thank you. It looks like the ZIS was stamped on the radiator front. Luigi: Thank you very much.

Bruce I have been keeping tabs on the katy and boy you are smashing it! im still looking at the radiator (drool, drool) and am wondering if you used a jig to help with the spacing of the "fins" in the core? at any rate this is so cool and im gad I could be a part of it.

Thanks Clint. I made two sides of the core. The horizontal parts are alternating strips of 3 and 5 mm .005 platic (288 of them). After they were together, I squared it off and added the horizontal parts. I do have to say I am happy with the results.

Well guys, here's a few pictures of the beginning of the cab construction. It's not much to look at right now, but it is coming along. I have also started running the brake and steering linkages (pictures to follow soon). Thanks again for all of your support.

Are you making the hood from balsa wood?Bones

Is the hood a master to form a plastic or metal one, or are you going to keep that one?

Thanks guys. The wood is just a former so I can vacform a plastic one. It was very time consuming to get right (this one is actually the third one I had to make).

Bruce, that's exactly what I thought I vacformed a piece only one time in my life, and it was waaaaay smaller than this. Yet it was a mess to obtain the master. You have my solidarity, for what it's worth

Thank you very kind sir. I managed to get the basic hood and cab rear formed today. They still need a little cleanup, but I think they will work out all right. As always, I thank you all.
