Hi all as you may have noticed I have been seriously M.I.A of late due to the fact I lost my beloved and faithful German Shepard Buck to cancer last month. It has been a very hard time for me as the cancer spread within a month of him being diagnosed with the condition, it was a very aggressive bugger that's for sure. Buck was with me every day since 2006 and was my protector and work buddy for five years until he retired in 2011. I had hoped he would have a longer retirement but alas that was not to be. As any of you with pets can imagine myself and the family where totally devastated and my will to do anything let alone model was at an all time low. However I am slowly getting back on track so am now sat at the bench which is a start! I am even sniffing some plastic so it's onto the glue next! The hardest part is that he would sit with me whilst I was at the bench so I keep looking around for him! But my next new build will be dedicated to him and I'm sure he would approve! Cheers Pete

I know exactly how you feel Pete! Always tough to lose a loving companion like that. It's a shame such loyal friends don't have longer life spans.

From a dog owner to a dog owner, I understand perfectly what you feel. But what those unique friends give you will last forever.

Oh man, I feel your pain too. I am one of those dog lovers even tho I always tease that dogs belong to my wife. Beautiful dog... he did his job protecting you and I won't be surprised if he is still looking after you. You have my deepest condolences. And I admit I miss your WIPs.

My condolences. I know exactly how you feel. Lost my guy a bit more than a year ago and still still expect to see Zeke when I am chopping something on the kitchen counter, standing patiently waiting for something to fall on the floor... or more likely get tossed to him. Hang on to that.

When the time is right Pete, get yourself another bench buddy. When my loyal dog Dusty passed away after 13 years due to cancer it was extremely hard to have an empty house and after a couple of weeks my wife and I went down to one of the local pet stores and that's where we found Brenda, a 14 week old black brindle boxer that stole our hearts immediately. While nothing will replace Buck and every dog has their own personality, having a new companion will help immensely when you're ready for it.

Hey Pete, Really sorry to read of your loss mate. We have a beautiful dog called Lucy. She is a real integral part of our family and my two little ones love her. Sometimes she gets on my nerves a bit, but at the end of the day we really cannot imagine our home without her! I know it will be a sorry and sad day when she goes the same way as your old mate. Rest assured, the wounds will heal, just try and remember all the joy he brought you and your family. While you are not yet ready, you may one day find yourself with a new modeling companion! Chin up mate! Cheers, Sam
