Hi there guys, these are a couple of oil barrels for the ground work of my Beep. They were done the Scratchmod's way. The barrels are good ol' Verlinden's... Before the rubbing and peeling : And after : Still a finishing touch here and there... Best regards ! G.

Thanks fellas, I've added a bit of oil spills on the barrels, I think it works (AK engine oil, it works for me !). The yellow barrel isn't finished yet... Best regards ! G.

Steve thank you ! The barrels are Verlinden's and I must say the flattened barrel is something different for a change.
Wouter, Rob has a very clear explanation on making crusty and rusty paint effects. This is his topic (you can find it in TIPS AND TECHNIQUES) "Old crusty rust and chipping". I see the pictures dissapeared, I believe Rob isn't aware of that ? Anyway, this is how I did this :
- a primer layer sprayed on (Tamiya Surface Primer), let dry ! - an acrylic paint layer sprayed on (a couple of rust tones), let dry ! - an oil paint wash brushed on (again a rust color, burnt sienna + burnt umber), - pigment powder dabbed in the (still wet) wash, - powder absorbs the wash and adheres now, dries fast too, - acrylic paint layer sprayed on the pigments (low air pressure, avoid pigments to suck up paint, keep it 'dry'), let dry ! - after a couple of hours rubbing and peeling can start, BIG FUN !!!
Spud thanks mate !

Hey G, just checked in on this one. The oil effects look very cool bro. Can't wait to see everything together on one base.

Very nice, but I don't think they're going to hold much oil now... LOL They do look great. Shawn
