OK T got a question for ya.Can i apply filters with a brush?Any type of weathering i decide to do will have to be done by brush until i can buy an airbrush.

Nice work on the camo pattern Leon! As to your question on applying filters by brush, yes you can do that. Just think of it as a very thin wash. You can also go for 'dot' filters if you want to add some variation and/or streaking as well, all doable with a brush.

Agree with guys... shots taken outside make it look EVEN better!!! Love the weathering effect on the wooden fence by the way. LOL

Looking good Leon, the camo is great. I've been away from the military for almost 40 years now, but these must have painted just like some of the vehicles I am familiar with. No way would the finish be anywhere near perfect.
Think pizzed off private with a bucket of paint and a 3" brush.
I have to agree with the rest, no chipping, just some dusting and filters. The modern paint is real tough.

Fire away with any questions Leon, happy to help. There's always a first time for everything! The key with filters is to avoid getting too heavy handed with them at the outset and to think in 'layers'...like an ogre...or an onion...whichever is easiest for you.

Thanks Bill.I have one question to start. Do i need to seal the paint with a gloss coat before i start to apply the filters or washes?

Hi Leon, if you will... yes you need to seal it with gloss coat for the washes to flow freely on the panels and crevices Cheers!!!

A sealing coat is always a good idea IMHO. The key is to alternate your barrier mediums...so if your base paint work is enamels, you seal with an acrylic gloss, then you can weather to your heart's content with oils, enamels, etc. If you want to 'preserve' layers in the process, you can use additional sealing coats (lightly) as needed.

Leon, All i use is Acrylic paint and i always seal with acrylic gloss and flat. Your good to go! BTW, i use Future/Klear to gloss or Tamiya gloss as well.

The key Leon is to always have an alternate medium barrier between your paint work and your weathering. So if you paint in acylics, an acrylic gloss barrier is just fine if you're weathering with non-acrylic washes/filters, etc. (which is the norm as those are usually either enamels or oils or some combination). Future (the floor polish) is an acrylic medium and that's what I use to seal all my work since I apply washes and filters using enamel paints and thinners for example.
