Nice to see some progress here Thomas! That's a cool way to fill gaps quickly and easily. How well does the dental wax hold up over time? Any potential issues with shrinkage or susceptibility to humidity/changing temps? Thanks, Bill! I once replaced a missing detail on a 1/35 scale Panther II kit from Dragon using exactly this wax. No signs of any damage so far. But it is a wax, so having the model placed at the rear window shelf in a hot summer might possible have some influence not only on the integrity of the wax but the model itself... The wax don´t shrink at all. Also humidity has no influence on it. It´s a dental wax. It can be worked or shaped whenever you like, the next minute or in a year. Just like a candle. One important advantage is that it doesn´t damage the surface it has been applied too. No etching, nothing. I usually apply a little more than needed and when cool I work it back to the shape or gap I want it to hide. Fine stuff!

Nice to see you back here Thomas, and good progress on the 'Spad',so far!!.....Have to say though, although the ZM kits have a lot of detail,it looks like the fit ain't so good in some areas??....I have the Trumpy kit on the go at the moment, and that seems to nearly 'clip' together at this same stage? Now, the gap between the wing and the fuselage might have its origin in the design of the model, or in my inability to get a better fit. I don´t know. Also this has been the first "serious" mismatch I encountered, so I am pretty happy with this build so far. This is no Tamiya shake and bake kit. But it surely is a fine but demanding kit. What´s the saying: Measure twice, cut once!

Great work buddy , not heard much about fit problems on ZM kits but I'd be disappointed if I found a gap like that on such a high priced and modern kit. Nice wax putty tip BTW

On the gap I am not disappointed. This is a model kit, and so far I still have to see a perfect one, if ever there will be such one. Summing up my pleasure doing this kit so far this gap the gap doesn´t matter for me. If there is a gap: fill it! Here I showed it to tell you about this device I have made use of so many times on recent builds. Filling this gap was a good example on its use.

I went through this build over at SPAM too, Thomas. That wax thing is really intriguing...
I'm seriously considering this kit. I'm trying to decide on a long term all out 1/32 build and this kit is on the short list. I can't really read through everything at the moment...any real big issues with fit other than the wing issue?

Jimmy, please excuse my late reply. Again I have noticed I do not get any notifications on this thread despite my settings looking ok...
Fit of this kit generally is good. The wing to fuselage gap was the most visible one, but this was easily taken care of. Now, with the main camo colours on it´s no longer visible.
This surely is no kit for a beginner! One has to check and re-check before glueing. In my opinion a great help is to have the Concept Note book within reach. This book comprises an SBS build among other useful information that helps. I remember assembling the engine and the exhaust here.
The working features: the air brakes are working. But with all those hinges moulded very finely in plastic they are in risk to brake. I only opened and closed the brakes on my kit a few times before I decided to keep them shut. No glue was needed here, the brakes fit this good into the recesses in the fuselage.
The wing fold has to be assembled very careful! Read the instructions and the addendum available on ZM´s website closely! If the fit on your build is not as good as possible there is something wrong. Check again. The wing fold on my kit works great, the vinyl cap beautifully prevents the wing from wobbling.
So, as far as I remember there are no "real big" fit issues. Take your time, test twice (or more often), and be sure you understood the assembly manual.
