Thanks Leon ! Andy, my work bench is extremely dusty now. Even my forehead, nose and ears are quite dusty while the mind gets rusty ! Bill, thanks my friend, it's good to get feedbacked from the best modellers of the planet. Woutmatey, I'm glad you like it so far. Little Britain is one of my favorites, I like sharing this silly fragment with you, so funny ! Rob, I wish I could come over just to meet you. However, I woudn't have the guts just to THINK about touching your model ! It's better to do it yourself, you're the Dustman/Rustman/Wreckman/Mudman.........And I'll check out the F2 my friend, so short on time ( I work this weekend). Bones, thanks fella ! Carl, that's true mate, the same here, my family and the doggies are priceless, these two little fellas give nothing but honest love coming straight from the heart. The weathering is still going on. Dicky, thank you ! Pigmentosity, I love it ! I'm in the middle of the pigmentosity and I've taken a load of pics to show you what I'm doing. This is a fierce dust fight but I have a good idea of the result I'd like to achieve so I keep working and reworking... First I apply AK streaking grime thinned down with white spirit, I then add pigments by dropping them onto the wet surface (I don't disturb the pigments). Once dry I can add new layers of pigments but before that I fix the former layer of pigments with AK pigment fixer and let them set firmly. Best regards ! AG.

looks very cool...seems tat I need to try this technique...very effective and I got loads of the streaking stuff (several times I mistakenly ordered them while I already had them ) do you also streak the pigments downwards sometimes or do you leave them untouched every application session? Cheers

Dusty?!?!?! God, the horror! Need me to come over and help clean? LOL If yes, you better fill up the whole room with beer. Looking so stunning already and I think I want to marry it but I don't want to rush into the relationship you know that rebound thing is not healthy. Will take it out for few more dates then maybe marry it?

Wout, basically I do this as a start of the weathering process :
- a dirty wash (burnt umber/raw umber oil paint + white spirit),
- a pin wash using a slightly thicker wash of the same as above,
- after drying I wet the surface (panel after panel to keep control) with AK streaking grime + white spirit, immediately followed by
- sprinkling dry pigments,
- after drying I brush vertical rain stripes by streaking the pigments down, wet and with a fine tipped wet brush,
- and correcting until I'm satisfied with the result.
Andy, you got my permission to marry it !LOL !

AG
She is looking like a well used vehicle right of the battlefield, good method for the finish.

Thanks guys ! Pigments are fun to work with and if used well great effects can be created but each time I reach the point of adding pigments to a clean model I'm afraid to mess it up.

You're not alone AG, but it's that little bit of fear that makes it that more enjoyable when you're stretching the envelope and the end result comes out great!

Pete, I forgot to mention one thing, I also have created some of the rain stripes with a fine brush dipped in white spirit.
Currently I'm finishing the tracks. I gave them a good treatment with dust pigment/white sirit mixture, brushed on with a soft brush. After drying I sprayed on several firm layers of pigment fixer. Piccies later today.
Best regards ! G.

Tank you fellas, I'm glad you like the dust sessions. Today I dirtied up the tracks and finished up with AK Track metal. A lot more to do so back to the hobby room now ! Best regards ! AG.

Beautiful work AG! I love the clumped dirt/mud effects. How did you create them....if ya dont mind.

Gary, I took a big, soft brush and filled it with dry dust/sand pigments. I then tapped on the brush so the pigments came off and fell down like mud falling from the tracks. I secured the collected pigments with pigment fixer (2X to be sure).

Im always a bit nervous about clumped dirt/mud on my models as ive tried on test models and couldnt get the right results. More practice i reckon.

Gary, this is a safe way to create mud, because you can add it dry and wet only if you're satisfied with it.

That mud is looking sharp! The whole composition of all the effects is very balanced and well executed. Great result
