I would think Option 1 will provide you with the most 'consistent' look...assuming that you want the flames and underlying green to look uniform. Option 2 will make it look like the green was done stock, the clearcoat/polish applied, and then the flames added later as an add-on or similar. Up to you in terms of the look you want I guess but either will work.

Current progress: It doesn't go fast, the building, but we still continue. I did the exhaust like Boo told with his Yamaha. It was real easy and is gives a great finish. The're still not glued here, this is a dryfit.

Excellent to see this being built.
Re Ps1, don't worry, you're doing just fine.
Re Ps2, no criticsms here, all looking really good.

Thanks Prof & DickyF!
Yep, the tips from Boo did their job. And it is pretty simple to do.

First, I glued the exhaust into position. No pics of that, it still is the same view from here above, just a little better positioned. Then: WHO THE F*CK INVITED MURPHY TO MY PLACE?Damn! After a round off clearcoat, I got this almost instantly: Is this a new technique for "crackle-paint"? 2 years ago, I did a car with the same primer, same color from spraycan and same clearcoat. And there where NO issues. GGGrrrrrr...... Why is this? And even more strange.... why only on 1 side of the deck? I donno ...... ok, whe will fix this later on then. So I decided to give the hull a layer of primer after all the hours of sanding I already did. That way, I could see better where there are still some issues that have to bee solved. Yes, there is a corner that needs some more care: That's it for now, folks. To be continued.

Wow Dominiek, that's about as bad as you can get with crazed paint...but it's a mystery as to why it would affect only the one side...truly strange, I can honestly say that I've never seen anything quite like that before. Murphy's got it in for you big time I guess, hopefully the recovery won't be too much as you rework it.

Thanks for the mentally support, Bill. What even is more strange then expected: the green layer was allready hardened from june 19th.
oh, I'm gonna take a different approach now. I'm gonna do a repaint, but with primer, paint and varnish of the same brand. Anybody suggestions for the colors of the deck, the hull and the flames?

This is crazy! That would be perfect for rust buckets but not for your boat. Flames? Yellow usually look good with flames...

Indeed crazy.
I was looking for pics for flames and yes, yellow is mostly looking good, but I need to combine it with the other colors for hull and deck. So I need suggestions for that to.

The deck just sunk ....... into a plastic bag, filled with oven cleaner foam. Now, I'm hoping the paint gets loose pretty easy. Keep your fingers crossed!

Bad luck mate. That effect is typical for spraycans : as the can get emptier, the contents can start to change. The mixture of paint and the thinning agent changes and this can result in the crazed paint that you have now.
Even if you buy 2 spraycans from the same brand, the mixture inside may be different, resulting in a different finish.
It helps to test if 2 paints "interact" with eachother, but even that will not give you 100 % guarantee. A spraycan may work fine in the beginning, but as it gets emptier (or older) it may change into a bad one.
Don't worry, I had Murphy with me for an entire year (2012) and despite that I finished the best looking project I did sofar. It even won the gold medal in the very first modelling contest that I entered.
Maybe you can try to seal the paint with Parket or Sols Plus, before you spray the flames and the final coats of varnish ? Might be worth a try.

Primer and varnish where from the housebrand of the chain "Action". Color from the housebrand of the chain "Brico". But as mentioned before, I used it already in the same combo a year ot two ago, on a car model, without any problems. Here a couple examples, after they have been polished:

First things first. I completely was able to remove the "bad paint". Then I soacked everything in warm water with a drop of Dreft (this is a dishwash cleaner in Europe) Rinsed the whole thing and let it dry. After that, I did a test. I saw here somewhere on the forum a topic concerning Vallejo Acrylic primer based on polyurethane base. I have that in stock, but never used it. So, this was the time to do so. I first took my old stencil and placed it on the deck. After I took the pic, I also took care of the stencil not being firmly attached to the deck. Then I used the primer to test my pattern: Sorry for the not 100% pics. But the test of the pattern is ok to me. After that, I started painting the whole deck and also the hull. No pics of that. It's only grey you see.... Now I want to let dry the primer at least for 24 hours to see if it becomes strong enough.

Dickyf, the car is still in progress....... It's somewhere in the freezer. I haven't been building for quite some time, I think about 1,5 years. First I broke my elbow, which took me about a year to heal. After that, my cellar, where my workspace is, run under water and I had lots of issues with the insurance. After that, cleaning and repairing was needed. So all my modeling stuff is "gone" in boxes. I'll have to search to find some specific items. That's why I started this pretty easy build, to get the feel again.

Wow, sounds like you've had your share of ups and downs in the past few months Dominiek, hopefully the rest of the way will be smooth sailing. The test pattern with the primer looks good from here too!

New progress. I did a test with Vallejo polyutherane primer. It worked well. Now, I've been resanding the last time I hope, to get it really smooth. And now, time for something new. I wanted to spray "something" on the side of the hull. That's why I need to make a stencil. So I taped some application tape onto the side. Then cut it out and got the nearly perfect mask. Now I have to scan this, import it into the plotter software and make a test-cut to see if it fits. When I have that, I can start drawing and cutting whatever I want to get on the hull. To be continued!

It's a little quiet here, I know.... That's because I'm in the middle of divorce and am moving out of the house now. But after I'm settled, I have a complete house to do some happy modelling.
