Hey Gar ! This has been an interesting conversation about the paint / painting methods and some other stuff I don't fathom . Anyway the results are interesting and I know what Phil meant by the "pre fab " look as compared to usual methods . Its good to break out of the usual methods and experiment though . That 91% alcohol sounds like it did the trick for you . I have yet to try the AK products . I've been switching from enamels to Tamiya acrylics here lately and for me the standard ole Tamiya thinner works well .I still have to clean the needle tip with a brush dipped in lacquer thinner ever so often though . I'll give that 91% a try , for the paint I mean . I don't do that stupid youth stuff anymore either . Some how we have survived bro . Carl, What are you using for your Tamiya clean up? Cause original Windex works really well. Maybe you already knew that, just throwing it out there Jeff , I have used Wjndex to run thru the airbrush when I am finished airbrushing but not to clean the needle tip while I'm spraying . I'll give the Windex a try . Anything I can do to avoid smelling lacquer thinner is a good thing . Thanks for the tip .

Hey brother John, I havent tried the lacquer thinner in the AK, but when ive need to AB Vallejo Model Color, ive put some drops in a plastic meds cup and added quite a bit of Klean-Strip Lacquer and mixed the crap outta it with an old paint brush let it settle for just a few seconds and poured the color of the top of the mix into the AB.....make sense? It sprays pretty nice, but i dont do it often or in large quantity. Still, I LOVE MY TAMIYA!!!!! Rob - Thanks for the link bro i appreciate it....very nice! Carl - I really like the results of the AK after i sorted out the thinning and psi. To be honest, i thought the Modulation looked pretty cool on its own merits, but i couldnt get over the stark contrast in colors hence the filter/mist. We'll see how it all pans out in the end and then ill decide if i ever want to do another CM paint job. Ive never been a big fan of it unless toned down ALOT by weathering, but i souldnt knock it till i try it i reckon. Thanks bro! Jeff - Lets just say i ALWAYS keep a Razor handy and i visit the Optometrist regularly! Gary Thanks for the info-mization Gar . I've tried doing CM (to be clear I'm talkin about paints here ..... ) but it always seems to get wiped out in the weather-ization process . Guess it depends on how much weathering gets applied in the final stages .

Impressive that you can squeeze in bench time while prepping for a move Gary! Hope your new digs provide you with lots of space to spread out while you work.

Impressive that you can squeeze in bench time while prepping for a move Gary! Hope your new digs provide you with lots of space to spread out while you work. I’m with Bill on that, I do hope the move will go smoothly for you ‘cause it can be stressful too. Praying for you and your sister that all will fall into place and go well. If the folks where you’re going give you any beef about Mattie let me know and I’ll send over my two wee pups to help Mattie settle any issues! Their small but carry a big bite . . . Looks like you’ve got the wheels out of the way; they are very nicely painted. Did you use a mask for the road wheels? I hope the tracks won’t shrink up on you? I used these same tracks as replacements on my Tamiya Panzer D build and they shrank on me after I painted them. I had also attached the drive, idler and road wheels to the tracks as an assembly prior to painting and I couldn’t get them back on the hull without some trouble. It may be easier for you the way you are going about it? Let us know. One last thing, you watch out for that officer Boots, I know his type, on your way up North and don’t forget to pack some of that rich Columbian kitty stuff and carry it with you, just in case he show up, OK! He may show up with his gray pal wearing some kind'a woven hat with ears, so bring plenty.

Always a good thing when the wheels and tracks have paint. Now I am very tempted to start one of my IV kits.

Hiya Fellers, Phil, Jeff - I base coated with Tamiya Dark Brown then mixed a batch of Vallejo Med. Rust and Light Rust with Lacquer thinner and just misted here and there...patches, if you will. Ill do the hairspray thing on it. Mixing the Vallejo and Lacquer thinner is not something i do much unless i absolutely need too to AB something. Im gonna acquire a Rust set from LC or AK eventually so i dont have to do that. Bill - No way anything can keep me from tha bench for too long. Ill start withering away if i dont replenish by getting my Model fix...ya feel me! Eddy, My man - I had to get a special permit for Mattie because the Condo admin dont allow dogs over 30pds. Will still dont have the 100% OK so pray for Mattie if ya will. Or just send tha wee pups to rip their throats out!!! Yeah Eddy, the Tracks will shrink but ive allowed for all that so it'll be fine and dandy. Hey, dont be fooled by Officer Puss-n-Boots. Hey only hassles me when hes out of Nip. I toss him a bag, he takes a sniff, then i throw a toy mouse out tha window and he cant resist.....Chases and plays with it every time, just like a kitten....kinda cute really. Anyhoo, I just put the peddle to the metal and IM GONE!!! Rob - Bring on that Pz.IV build Boss! I need weathering references....like NOW!!! Lookin forward to that one. Which kit ya gonna do? Cheers fellas, Gary

The only way Gary can save himself now is trading the beard for a mustache and dye the killtut lavender...The only choice remaining...
