Good to know the original pair of manual extensions did the trick T! Hope your weather dries out...you should move down here, <20% humidity as a rule and 100+ degree temps in the summer!

WOW, only off a week on my replies!! Sorry bout that!! LOL!! Thanks for the comments guys, trying to stay on track over here!! Here is what is going on for this one... I finished the sanding...well, major sanding anyway. There is a large trench that runs down the center of the deck on this. This is a tag line rail for the sailor when they are on deck. My thought was to fill this in with something to keep the appearance of the rail. Trying some wire and then sanding it down after. First pic here show the wire not sanded on the right and sanded on the left. After breaking some rules while the wife and kids are at the beach, I brought my paint booth up stairs to escape the muggy weather. So from the kitchen table I managed to lay down some primer to check things out. It's close. I will hit this with another round of sanding and then prime again. I might be able to push forward on this soon. Thanks for hanging in there!!

Rules are made to be broken... all wives know this. Looking good primed! Just don't break another rule... bringing it into the wife's bath tub.

It's all in the prep for something like this. Without it the build could look like a simple toy. No worries here though, this is what you call PREP!

Holy Sh*t...this is going back how far? 3 years this July? C'moon! LOL!! It is time then! Time to grab something off the shelf of shame and dust it off! Not only have I been over-inundated with all the side effects of life, the modelling world has had it's opportunity to pounce on me from time to time; all of which keeps me form actually building stuff!! If you haven't the time nor inclination to scroll back to the beginning of the thread...this is a kit that I received as part of a Secret Santa over on SMA...3YEARS AGO!! Anyway, when I got this kit, the sender sent along a pile of goodies to compliment the build. I owe, at least, Brian (gracious sender and even more special, a former member of this proud ship's crew!! ) the honor and respect of pushing this towards the finish line! The last time this on seen the light of day, she was almost built. The conning tower was still separate and there was only a couple of tiny pieces to add to complete the build! I am happy to say....the build aspect of this one has finally been completed! Actually a great model to play with...I will save the Chicago for a rainy day...the Maryland was the prize I was after here! This one is officially heading to the paint booth soon and with any luck will get this one done real soon! ! As always, thanks for stopping by!

Jeez, I didn't realise how old this thread was until I saw comments by Dicky, who ran away with the circus years ago. Well done on recomissioning this one Todd!

Thanks Dierk! Glad to have you on board! Yeah...been a long long time! LOL...Sunday, no better day to bring this one back to life Brian! Looking forward to the weathering on this one. Paint should be basic as the boat was all black. I was told by my friend Brian, the other one, the hull was not red like the box. You might appreciate this one...he actually put the model on board the Maryland for a short Atlantic cruise before I got the kit. Adds to the build somewhat! Also got a few other trinkets from her sister ships she hooked up with along the way! LOL....I hear you Marc!! Glad you could ship out with me for this! Hopefully won't take me as long as it did to get her back to the bench! I know Leon....right? Plastic is forever and sex won't rot your teeth! Oh boy...been one of those days around here!! And just like that...prime-time! We have a little gathering happening tomorrow around these parts. The town parade kicks off in my front yard...quite literally! In fact all of the towns Firetrucks line up in front of the house usually! Friends and family all get together to give some remembrance to all those who gave everything in service of this country, some good food...drink...my daughter's birthday is today so we take advantage of everyone being in one place at the same time and celebrate that! So with that...I would be hard-pressed to deliver another update on this by then...but anything is possible!

Enjoy your day tomorrow as well my friend! My daughter is off with the boyfriend to dinner. Ahh...to be 19 again! Thanks...the primer makes an excellent start to the black! Looking like some dusting is soon to follow and I might be able to run with it!

Good to see this one resurface! Makes sense about the black hull, from what I understand these boomers were covered with black anechoic (basically really thick rubber) tiles to dampen their noise signature in order to 'run silent, run deep'! Looking forward to it coming off the shelf of doom permanently.

Thanks for sticking around on this one Bill! I have some big hopes to try and finish a few things that have languished on for so very long! The black can lend itself to a multitude of weathering possibilities...can;t wait to get it there! Things are somewhat quieting down around here now....might try and sneak away for a bit!!
