Thanks John ! I used 3 applications of Solvaset to get the decal down into the zimm . This stuff is hot and has to be used carefully but other decal solvents wouldn't touch it .

Got to love Solvaset! It's the only thing I use now on decals, it's never failed me yet! Nice progress Carl, looking forward to seeing the ambush pattern.

Chris , always good to read your comments when you post here my friend . Bill , I have some other solvents that are good for delicate decals that I usually use first but if they fail then I have the ole trusty Solvaset !Thanks my friend .

Hey Bill I started weathering and forgot all about the ambush camo until your post reminded me ! Good thing I only did the engine deck so far . Here's the engine deck with a coat of Future (just to be safe) and a first wash of burnt umber artist oil. I don't know if the ambush camo spots of paint were applied to the engine deck ? Bill ? Notice how the lightened dunkelgelb is getting darker .The color looks better to me . I kept Bills suggestion in mind when I lightened the dunkelgelb .

I'm sure the darkening is caused (at least partly) by the Future. I STILL haven't figured out how much I have to lighten colors to account for that! It's by far the best pre-decal layer I've found, though, so I don't really want to mess with it.

Dupes , I see what your getting at . Even though Future is crystal clear it will make a matt color look darker due to the surface becoming glossy . Maybe not silver or white . Most of the darkening occurred here when I put the burnt umber wash on . Thanks for the input .

Hi Carl, usually the ambush camo would have been applied over the whole vehicle, but there is always room for some artistic license.
Cheers, Tobi

Tobi , thanks for the answer . I'll apply it over the entire vehicle then . Thanks again for the help . Guy , thanks for the complement ! Here's my reference for the camo . It looks to me like the "dashes" were applied with a brush .

Hello, I would leave the camo as it is now, like you can see on your reference photo's, the base camo is hard edge en the edges have some kind of disc form. I don't know if that sort of spots were ever used on soft edge. You did a good job on it like it is.
My opinion

Eddy i've seen that scolloped edge camo referred to as "The Cloud effect" several times.
