Now that's some impressive detail work Carl, you sure you're not taking photos of the real thing and posting them up as your own stuff? J/K of course, stunning results no argument there.

Excellent work Carl. I am half way through a Tiger 1 build with the same zimm as you are using. How do you rate it? I like it although it is a bit fine and the turret pattern is the same as the hull which is wrong as all the turrets were done at a seperate plant from the hulls and were a lot courser in pattern

1. Base color of interior is Model Master enamel Panzer Buff . Sealed with coats of Future and a oil wash of burnt umber and balck. 2. Base coat on clamps is MM enamel Antique White sealed with Future and oil wash . 3..MM enamel Panzer Gray randomly brushed on edges then removed from edges with a brush dipped in enamel thinner to remove gray and show white edge. 4.Panzer Gray streaks randomly with a frayed brush . 5.Powdered dark gray chalks brushed on . 6. Disasters sometimes turn out for the best . The Future lifted off , exposing the brass . I brushed on Mig pigments Red Primer in that area , then cleaned off the surrounding area with a brush dipped in glass cleaner , which exposed the white base coat on the edges . 7.Stippling of the Panzer gray with the frayed brush . 8. Multiple washes / pin washes off burnt umber and black artist oils . Everything gets sealed with coats matt made up from Future blended with Tamiya Flat base and thinned with glass cleaner for air brush .

Excellent work Carl. I am half way through a Tiger 1 build with the same zimm as you are using. How do you rate it? I like it although it is a bit fine and the turret pattern is the same as the hull which is wrong as all the turrets were done at a seperate plant from the hulls and were a lot courser in pattern Andy , the fit of the zimm plates over the raised details on the hull was perfect . Eduard put all of the cut outs in the p.e. in the correct places . It looks the problem is going to be blending in the gap on the corners where the zimm plates meet at 90% and leave a gap . I haven't decided how I want to fix that yet . I figured there would be some inaccuracies with the zimm pattern , especially with it not being as random as per the real vehicles , but I felt like giving it a go . I have everything for making my own zimm ( putty and tools ) but I'm not enthused about spending the time doing it that way . In a while I'll be getting back to the zimm and I will see how things shake out my friend .

Hey Oliver its surprising to hear the comments about the realism of the weathering . I know that was my goal but I didn't think I had achieved it . Its good to read that I accomplished what I set out to do . Good luck on your Sturm my friend . Thanks .

Hey Mac I've been looking at your weathering and have been taking notes on your method my friend . Thanks . Rob , thanks for the "realism" my friend . Andy , your Tiger looks spot on . Zimm looks just right to me . For me the zimm pattern on the turret is not something I would notice . You dig a bang up job on the fenders . I'm not sure if I'm going to use them from my set .
