With the primer layer on the figure shows even more details, the badge on his left pocket for example, stunning ! The face looks silky smooth too (where did I hear that ? Oh...Don't mess with the Zohan !).
The primer does bring so much out. I managed to get a microscopic look at the neck after the primer. Will give the neck the once over with some fine and I will be back in buisiness! I shot some base on the helmet last night too. I think the humidity gods were being kind to me...Muggy but the cave wasn't too bad.
Strange weather Andy!! Been muggy for weeks hear and these tropical pop-up storms almost once a day like in the Pacific. Doesn't help either, only make it more muggy! LOL!!!
G, that is looking soooo good! Seen some stop at this point and would look great! I know the further you go the better it will become!!! Keep pushing Brotha'!!
I caught you in there Dicky...Fanx! Let's see how nice the gods of paint will be to me today!!
Thanks T, there's much more detail to paint tomorrow, then it will look much better. I'm having the time of my life with this project and more Young busts will follow in the future ! Next to buy : US WWII Tanker ?
Some nice work here fellas!!!...Guy,in your piccie, the 2 chaps,2nd and 3rd from the left, are wearing the 'Pixie suits' I believe, and the others are wearing overalls,it looks like.So the Beige/brown colour would be right for the Pixies,I do vaguely remember using those suits whilst I was serving...
OK while I think my counterparts will be napping...ummm...I mean on sabbatical of sorts I will slide in and try and keep some amused here. I managed to hit the booth a bit last night, but nothing to write home about.
I started laying down a little base on the helmet!
I used the two rust color in the wheel and track set from AK. Been looking at a few helmets the past few days and there is a dark rusty under color to some spots.
This last pic, I popped on a quick coat of future to seal the area before some fun. Now on to the tunic. After the prime, I broke into my Dunkelgelb set from AK...it's not just for tanks anymore.
Shadow and base...
So here is the torso section ready for detailing I think. Things will tone down a bit and blend with a filter and/or wash.
Still a ways to go here. Washes and oils with detail painting ...just having some fun with the AB. I think I kept revisiting all the colors around 3 times on this, trying to draw out some color tones.
Excellent work there and a masterstroke painting yer chap like a tank....(I haven't really grasped any of this have I?)
I also, can't help noticing either, that you and yer 'two colleagues' have never appearred together.....is it really all three of yer or is it just the Michalak Triplets at work here??? You, Albertus and Guiseppe
If yer think yer one in a million, chances are, YOU AIN'T!
Absolutely fantastic work from all three of you guys , if it was me....i`d be calling it finished at the primer stage , just dunno how you fellas can achieve such fantastic results, now i no why i don`t do figs!!!!
Dicky - Who wuda thunk...painting a figtank would be so much fun!! Very clever to think that about the chain gang all being the same...kind of like a Delusional Super hero with Schizophrenia I will have to consult my better 1/3's to find out what they think about that!!
Boots - How the heck are you fella? Hope all is well! Thank you kindly sir! I don't know how they do it either...I am just trying to keep my head above water until they return!! LOL!!
Bill - Thank you! Still messing with the helmet now. Another wash or two,and some finishing touches on the goggles is in order. LOL...if I had a therapist, it is a good thing he or she isn't following along here!!
OK while the cats are away the dog I guess will have to suffice I have had a chance, with the less than desirable weather, to push forward on this.
Here is a group shot to start prior to working some of the "other stuff", In other words I have not started using any oils at all yet.
I started back in on the helmet. The band was actually rubber on a lot of these goggle sets and from surfing there is a multitude of colors to choose from, so I went with a contrasting lighter color. At the moment, there is only a filter on this. I will weather up the band a bit which will result in it darkening slightly.
As you can see I went with the darker version instead of clear...why wouldn't I? LOL!!
At the present I have two coats of Future laced with yellow dye. If nothing else, I would like to say that I can see a difference. LOL, there is a slight hint of a yellow tinge there. Also I left some ever so slight speckles of the base color showing on the black as if the UVish type blackening is wearing thin. The future will be built up and hopefully give a nice effect...we will have to wait and see!!
Tine for a little mock up.
Nothing like a good body wash to start off the night...
Now the keen eye will see where I almost screwed the proverbial pooch....While putting the first wash on I managed to attempt removing some, as I would normally do so leaving only some darker shades in the creases, I managed to slightly rub off some of the uniform between the bottom two buttons. Tiny specs that must have not gotten covered by the clear coat. Rather than roll with it and cover it with weathering, dirt, dust or a tarp like in armor modelling...LOL!! I choose to try and blend it in. This is why the two bottom buttons are cleanly painted and the others have aluminum chipping to them.
Breaking from the norm, I decided to have at darkening the eyes with something a little different...AK Chipping paint. This will add a little depth to the eye hopefully. And of course some white base for a start to the ocular lookaroundus's.
I finished off the night with a quick wash of the shirt. (creepy friggin' eyes!!)
That is that...for now! Plenty of detail painting to go and of course the oils...talk about procrastinating!!
