Luigi: yep, that's the one indeed mate. Tried to replicate those photos but with my own touch...for instance, for the wizard I didn't paint those stars and moons...waaaay too hard Jeff, thanks bud, glad you think about it that way...although, it would have been fun if I could finished the Abrams in December, then the Abramsfest at the MoM would be complete ey Hi jackwagon, again, way too kind partner, but thanks for that! But I think the colordifference between turret and hull is too hard. Also, the MG ain't painted yet, as the inside of the turret basket, no aerials yet (thinking of buying those accurate Armor ones, they look very cool), no stowage yet, tow cable ain't decent attached in some places, no spare wheel on the turret side yet...I could easily go on telling you why she ain't finished . I agree on the barrel btw, glad you like that...tried to replicate that look from some photos I found Dogfish, great word mate, thanks Hi Bill, glad to see you pop in here again ^^ Thanks mate! Mister Leon, thanks bud Cheers

OMG, the Wizzard (I didn't misspell, it's what it's written on his hat) Stars and planets are a part of his camo Rincewind is one of Pratchett's main characters.

Luigi, well, didn't know that...so I painted him without his camo then Smudgey, thanks a lot partner! Stef, thanks mate and glad this build made you decide to join us ^^ Welcome! Dupes, thanks bro, appreciate that ^^ Bootsey, you could not see this one kick orfe because it's ferkin' busy over here Glad you found it though, and that you like it. Come on bro, you can't resist doin' somefin' modern I did a bit more on the Abrams. I mixed some Nato rainmarks with a little of MIG Europe Dust pigment and AK Light Dust. I brushed this on the lower parts of the turret and feathered the edges using a flat damp brush. I also dragged the mixture a bit on the sides to get a bit more streaking When that was dry I continued. This time I applied dry pigments to the hull sides, especially on the lower parts. I also added some of the pigments on the turret roof...Pigments used again were Europe Dust and Light Dust It's quite subtle and not very clear on the photos I'm getting there, but the turret is still way too monotone in appearance in comparison to the hull... Cheers

I love it The overall look is incredibly realistic. In fact you just gave me the inspiration for a small dio.

Wouldn't want to be the one who has to clean up that mess! The barrel looks like it had been dipped into the mud with its business end as well.
The tonal variations in the mud, however, look pretty realistic.
Cheers, Tobi

I'm with Luigi mate it looks spot on, just like tanks I've seen bombing around Salisbury plan when it's like a mud bath. the hull takes most of the mud with very little on the turret you have definitely got the right look to your model

Most impressive results so far! The layering is spot-on.

It reminds me of the tanks on the trailers I sometimes see coming from Teulada.

Wouts, that's just bad A$$ Buddy. This thing must be getting to weigh about a pound and a half with all that mud and pigments on it

I disagree Wouts, the turret doesn't look monotone to me from here...it matches up nicely with the hull and other layers IMHO. You're doing a great job blending them together to my eyes.

Saw it on FB but didn't have chance to comment. Believe me your Abrams is looking FANTASTIC as you got the turret to blend perfectly with the muddy hull!!!

This is not just about modelling my good friend Wout, this also is about ART ! This one will rock the craddle baby ! The pics look 3D paintings ! I like the contrasts in this beast, it's so bloody well done. Please don't ruin it by trying to improve the look it has already !

Gary, thanks a lot bro!!! Tobi, Deano, Pete and bear, wow, thanks for those great comments fellas jackwagon, who would have guessed a few months ago that this site would be invaded by Abrams' ey? It's all Dan who started it LOL. Thanks for the comment mate! Luigi, cool that you can see stuff like that in reality ^^ Jeff, thanks mate, and LOL, no it doesn't...in fact, it weighs way less than my projects involving etch and Friuls Bill, Andy and Guy, wow, thanks guys...you all make me hesitant in trying to add some more layers to be honest...I'm starting to get scared to mess up now...though I think when you would see it in the flesh you'll see that it might need some improvement...mmm...was going to continue today, but I think I'll let it rest for now and try to figure out whether to add or not... Darn you great dudes, you confuse me Cheers

It's becoming more and more uncommon, and they tend to move them on trailers (usually I see tanks and AFVs from Italian Army).

Wouts, At the end of the day you're the best judge of what the model 'actually' looks like and where you want to take it. Do whatever makes you happy!
