Been thinking of maybe getting a carrier that I built many many moons ago and always loved that ship for some reason...the USS Lexington. ** I Have added a new section to my website called 'War Ships', this is where i will have all my ships and many more pics of the builds. www.scratchmod.com/war-ships.html

Holy cow!!! Looking sharp... is there something you can not build? Maybe a plane? LOL Now I am really tempted to build a ship soon. I have decided on my first ship to build finally... it shouldn't be hard to figure out because it is where I live. USS Indianapolis... gonna look around. Can't wait to see more... please! It's contagious isn't it? I've been tempted to do something 'different' as well lately...you've got a lot of choices for the USS Indy depending on whether you decide to go 1/350 or 1/700. It is indeed a ship with a lot of history behind it.

LOL! I did my homework during lunch break today... there's two kits for 1/350... Academy and Trumpeter. Believe it or not according to several reviews, Academy is better than Trumpeter. Dicky is going to be disappointed this time. But interesting note I don't see any aftermarket sets for 1/350 but plenty for 1/700. Maybe because 1/350 kits are pretty new so they will come out soon...
I am watching one item on eBay right now. SHHHH!

A quick update. I've done a bi more on the upper sections and have taken a few pics with a test back ground which looks better and lets the detail painting show better. next up some more weathering.

Why worry, each of us is wearing an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back.

Guys thanks for stopping by and for the comments. I know it's not armor but the weathering process is similar. Been weathering the gun turrets and upper deck stuff, slow and steady now. I actually applied the first rust streaks on the smoke stack. Have to remember to not get carried away with the rust and also they have to be realistic. Update tonight I hope.

Well not much done done today. Been checking out some TonCans thanks to MHI and will try to get the Dragon #1034 DD 421 USS Benson 1940 version. Will build that this winter with PE. Should be a fun build.

Hi John, thanks brother. Yeah I was getting really burnt out on the rusting thing and always loved navy Warships, especially pre WWII Battle wagons and Tin cans and 4 stacker ships.
Bill I would love to see you do a floaty..

BJ, yeah I know...but that's why it's called a comfort zone! Rob, I have to say I've been giving it some serious thought...wonder if I could do a German Z-class destroyer in three tone and get away with it?

Why not Bill. There are several out there in both scales.
No pics today as I was doing yard work most of the day and tonoght/tomorrow night are the Pliedes meteor showers so I will be out with the scopes and binos.

It's all your fault Rob...now there's a 1/350 Z-38 kit on its way to me courtesy of Dragon USA. They were running a sale on it for $33, so the risk factor is fairly low. The reviews on it seem positive and it has a lot of detail...will have to do some research on it as I know nothing about it other than it's German!

Thanks Leon. The weathering is always the fun part, although slow at times. Been looking at ref images for the weathering of this and some Cruisers and Destroyers down the road. Images for DISCUSSION ONLY. Images of the DD850 USS Kennedy from my collection. Attachments:

LOL, gladly take the blame Bill. Can't wait to see yours here. I won't be getting another kit until the show next month. The timing worked out great...my wife and I are celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary on the 17th (had to coincide sooner or later!), so I just told her this was her gift to me and not to be surprised when it arrived. Of course, her gift is a very nice dinner at a local restaurant of her choice that evening, so she still comes out well ahead on the bargain IMHO. Now I just have to figure out what paints and other logistical elements I will need to support this particular project, I've already done some research online on Z-28, it's got a pretty interesting history...including post-war service in the RN as HMS Nonsuch!
