....or looking at the future some years ahead, after the Nuclear Blast in a small scale that will not make my wife send me back to my mother. I used some unusuall materials for our hobby. Paper, heavy card stock ( 1.5 mm ), foam board etc. Also balsa and some styrene and even P.E. rails ( these are goin' to be handrails for ladders, roofs and so on ) . The facades were worked at the photoshop, due to the small scale and printed at a photocopy machine at 100 gr paper for better results. White glue for most of the joins. Some acrylics and oils for more discoloration but I still need to spray this 1st model with matt varnish to kill the shiny spots. Some details are still missing ( lamps around the building and over the ad, a couple of vehicles, a wall around and of course the company sign ( Used Car Parts ). Everything is still w.i.p. so be patient. I want to believe that I 'm goin' to finish it. Comments are more than welcome. Excuse my English if I wrote something that s not clear.
Wow card buildings seem to be on the rise in the modelling world excellent quality there buddy cant wait for the rest of the dio i will be watching this one with lots of interest if anyone is interested USCHI is making a underground german bunker out of MDF and card stock in his blog and FB it is incredible
Thanks everybody for your time and comments. Still working with a slow progress due to very limited time. #Danb# as for the paper buildings generally, I 've made some tests with the "Troels Kirk" technique, that is creating walls with prestained paper planks out of canson paper on 1.5mm cardstock paper for backup. The one side of it is more rough than the other. For large scales you can use the rougher side. For small scales i.e. "N" scale - the scale of my test model - I used the other side. Then with some acrylics I painted some of the planks and did washes. The corrugated roof is out of printed card with oils for rusting. Windows from Tichy. The small warehouse is out of prestained wood planks with printed again corrugated roof for comparison.
